Founded in 1971 by Össur Kristinsson, an Icelandic prosthetist who developed the breakthrough silicone interface for prosthetic sockets, the Iceross® liner, we now employ 4,000 staff across 30 locations and have grown to become a global leader in our field.
We have since added numerous life-changing products to our portfolio including the Unloader One®, a clinically proven brace to relieve the pain of knee osteoarthritis, and the unique SYMBIONIC® LEG, the world's first complete bionic leg incorporating Bionic Technology by Össur. These innovations have led to our recognition by the World Economic Forum as a "Technology Pioneer".
