Mugler Cologne Fly Away by Mugler is a Citrus Aromatic fragrance for women and men. Mugler Cologne Fly Away was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Sonia Constant.

"MUGLER Cologne is fresh and intoxicating, with light and energizing green and citrus notes. The cologne evokes traditional eau de cologne with its pure fresh scent. But while drawing from the past, MUGLER Cologne is resolutely of the future. Simultaneously elegant and seductive, this innovative cologne perfume balances the crisp sparkle of traditional men’s cologne with a white musk, making it freshly familiar yet sensually unsettling and tenacious. Because of its duality, this unique creation can be worn as a men’s perfume as well as a women’s fragrance. Available in a signature bottle with sleek curved lines to refill again and again and again." - Mugler official info.

FLY AWAY is an intense Cologne that blends a sparkling yellow grapefruit with aromatic hemp. Lively then captivating, FLY AWAY is twisted by the secret “C” note to heighten the senses to a high effervescence.

The fragrance is available as a 100ml Eau de Toilette from August 1. 2018.

This kind of repulsive to my nose
Its not sweet at all
Very dusty/smoky
Earthy and maybe lemony?

apureterror

Simply put, I get grapefruit and cannabis. I like it.

PsychedBunny

Only the citrus stands out to me. I did not get the cannabis until reading the notes. This one is a hard pass for me as I tend to stay away from the citrus perfumes.

THIS IS IT. after a long search, i have finally found my perfect weed fragrance !!!

fly away has a decently realistic smell of freshly picked/ground bud, but it's honestly so well blended with the grapefruit that it ends up smelling like much much more... it's incredibly refreshing, as well as fruity, aromatic, herbaceous, and somehow juicy and dry all at once... it's almost like a tree stump covered in moss that someone poured grapefruit juice all over and then stuck kief to it lol. such a beautiful and satisfying combination of fresh and dank. this smell actually brings a smile to my face and is truly a pleasure to wear. wish it lasted a bit longer but oh well. for the low price and delicious unique scent, you really can't go wrong - just a lil overspray will do ya! can't wait to douse myself in this on my days off :>

edit: this layered w womanity will make you the sexiest fruit in the jungle 🍉🌴

edit edit: although this fragrance is incredible on its own, i've found that it's also the perfect layering scent with manyyy others, especially with other muglers. i particularly enjoy it with heavy/saccharine fragrances that need a bit of brightness or a sort of masculine touch (for lack of a better word) (fragrance has no gender !!).

edit edit edit: i now wear this all the time - to work, to the store, to dates, to concerts. it just fits, always (esp in the unending florida heat). it's so clean and casual and refreshing and perfect ! one of my favorites ever. my 100ml bottle is already halfway empty 🥲

I had heard that this fragrance has a realistic cannabis note. Being a fan of that note, I blind bought this to give it a try and see for myself just how realistic it is. Here's how it went;

Scent:
Opening is citrusy, spicy, and aromatic. There's only two notes in the breakdown, and they're both easily detectable. The grapefuit gives the fragrance a juicy, rind-y, fresh cut grapefruit scent, while the cannabis lends a spicy and green aromatic note. The cannabis note in this fragrance is not a smoked cannabis scent; it's fresh, unsmoked cannabis. Imagine if you took the freshly cut bud of a citrus-heavy strain and put it in a jar. That's the best way I can describe it. If you aren't familiar with what cannabis smells like, it'll just come across as a unique and spicy green note. I wouldn't say one note is more powerful than the other in the opening, a solid 50/50 split. In the dry down the cannabis has become the stronger note. I'd say the ratio in the dry down is 80/20 cannabis to grapefruit.

Performance:
Initial projection is strong at around 6 feet. Sillage is strong as well with an easily noticeable scent trail. After 3-4 hours the projection was under arms length and the scent trail was light. After about 5-6 hours there was no projection or sillage left. Would liked to have seen a little bit more longevity out of this.

When to wear:
This is a strong spring/summer scent, most suitable for day time wear. For obvious reasons, this isn't a good pick to wear to the office. Not a good pick for a date either, unless you know you're both into cannabis; in which case it would be a good conversation starter.

Blind buy:
I wouldn't call this a safe blind buy due to the longevity. However, if you like cannabis notes you might give this one a try.

Final verdict:
The fragrance does indeed have a realistic cannabis note, provided you're going for fresh cannabis and not like you just smoked a joint. Carolina Herrera's Bad Boy Le Parfum does a better job of conveying the "weed" note in my opinion. The scent itself is nice; a good choice for a hot day. The performance leaves a little to be desired, I would have liked at least a couple of more hours out of it. All in all, it's a fun scent to have in my collection but probably not one I'll reach for very often. Also, the atomizer on this bottle sprays more than any other bottle in my collection, just an FYI. It's a fire hose.

Opens with juicy grapefruit note so realistic I can taste it. An earthy herbal spiciness in the background, which doesn't really smell like cannabis to me. The crisp grapefruit is the star of the show: juicy without being overly sweet or floral, fresh and zingy without any soapiness and a nice spicy / musky base that compliments without complicating. Decent longevity especially for a citrus with a aromatic / woody drydown.

Simple and straightforward on it's own. Could also be layered with woody, aromatic, or green fragrances.

In any case, a very unique citrus that's perfect for spring and summer. It's a great value as well.

bvarney_zip

This is my favorite of the 2018-22 Mugler colognes…it’s sooo good! But you have to like herbal aromatic scents.

huntypoo

I tried this after sampling Byredo's Open Sky, which is a bit dirter and more masculine. Fly Away is a straightforward combo of bright, juicy greapefruit with earthy and mysterious cannabis notes. The scent profile these create is familiar yet unique, the the cannabis note is earth but reminds me of freshly picked purple buds, fragrant and green with an edge rather than dirty and smoky. I've been combining with salty aromatics (Finery After the Rain) and succulent fruity scents (Dossier Fruity Honey) to lovely effect - the lingering cannabis note adds a lovely dimension to my scent cloud.

AstralMatrix

Fly Away opens like a marihuana bud soaked in bergamot juice. It even hits the nose with the spicyness of the real thing.

My best friend bought it and she was excited about her new purchase and mentioned the cannabis note. I expected it to not smell like it, since lots of fragrances have notes which I (and others) can't detect.

Well, I used to be a pot head in my past life and this cannabis note smells like how your finger smells after rolling a joint of good weed. It's realistic! Not as loud or pungent, but it's obvious.

It tones down after a few minutes and the cool bergamot note remains. It's a very nice fragrance but I can't be smelling any weed after recovering from an addiction years ago. Not smart.

Sample before purchasing a full bottle. Maybe you'll love it, but it's possible you'll hate it!

Blyth33s

As someone who has a passion for cannabis, the scent carries cannabis, very professional, and well with a bright crystal terpene. All the factories sense that immediately is picked up by the grapefruit, and is leaving the nose with a bright, awake cologne as opposed to a perfume this smell really handsome on all age groups of men from young all the way in to gentleman. I wish brands did cannabis as good as Mugler does. I only picked up the travel size and layered it with other perfumes, since I’m not a cologne connoisseur as much as I enjoy complex garments, but this is definitely worth a full bottle for the amazing value and designer name.

LulaValentine

My Fragrantica friend— my Mugler dealer— sent me a decant of this and it’s so unique. At least to me. Not sure where I’d wear it but the cannabis note isn’t too strong on me and the grapefruit adds an uplifting happy freshness to it. I don’t think I’ll get a FB though. I don’t think I’d wear it enough to warrant that purchase, but I’m glad I’ve got this little 5ml decant of it to experiment with when I’m in the mood.

SgtButtCheeks

I found this bad boy on Offer Up for $5 so after checking out the notes I had to have it.
Presentation is practically nonexistent. It comes in a very plain yellow and white box and has a plastic cap. This probably explains the hefty price tag.
It is by no means a complex fragrance. Both notes unapologetically smack you right in the nostrils.
Grapefruit and cannabis. That’s it.
First spray is citrusy fresh. Kinda like D&G light blue in a way.
Seconds later it turns in to funky fresh like your stoner friend who still lives in his moms basement.
The perfumer is Sonia Constant so I knew it was going to at least be pretty good.
Probably not the best choice for an office frag unless you work in a laid back environment.
This was however, a great excuse to use this classic Cypress Hill song on my Instagram video. Never thought that would happen.
If you can find it under $10 I’d say it’s worth a blind buy just for the conversation piece it can be.

northtexasguitarlicks

Reminds me of my grandparents farm, eating grapefruit and mowing the fields in the summer. 100% nostalgic awesomeness. Not for everyone though. I also love weed and adore the smell of cannabis in all forms. Love this cologne.

Vertsu

Smells like burning cannabis, like when u pass close to someone that's smoking it.

ismellsomething

I come accross this one for 28 euro, so I had to buy it.

Not sure if I should wear this while driving or going to office...

Ko666

Very nice grapefruit combo with cannabis.

Mystères du Château de Dé

This is marked down everywhere. Perhaps discontinued? I've seen it for 20 bucks. It certainly has a delightful and refreshing top, better than the original (but present formulation) of Mugler Cologne, to my nose. But it goes no where and the cannabis, which I might have enjoyed, is imaginary.

Markja

I blind bought this today and I bloody love it , what a beautiful fresh sparkly grapefruit, very realistic. It’s lasted about half a day and is now a nice light woody musky skin scent , I cannot smell any cannabis accord , if I had of guessed I’d say some herbs or vetiver and I get a mint or menthol !!?!! ,I’m even thinking about getting another bottle because I’m sure this will be redundant soon and I’m really enjoying this, can’t wait to see how it performs in the heat 9/10

This perfume definitely gets points for being original. I have tried this in the middle of the Oregonian winter, and in the middle of a summer vacation in the Caribbean, and I would definitely NOT recommend using this in the winter at all. I am surprised at how different it smells (significantly better) in the high humidity summer. In the winter, it was a little cloying, and it stayed on me forever, and I actually had to wash it off because that pot note was sickening. Being from Oregon, I’m not at all amused by smelling pot because I smell it everywhere I go when I go out. It’s just not my cup of tea. But I can definitely appreciate what the creators were going for, and I can see why some people would like this. For me personally, it is a very hard pass. Many points for originality though. I wouldn’t describe this as unisexual. A better description would be like it is completely void of any sexual attributes—totally asexual if you ask me. Bizarre, I know….

Unmodernize

First sniff: mmmm really zesty summer orangey citrus

Second sniff: God I love it! there’s depth to it. 90’s. Youth. Summer. Freedom.

Third: This is kicking my olfactory sense up to euphoria level for sure, this is a very solid release, I want to keep it mommy.

I pick up some spicy medicinal note beneath it all. Like Olibanum or the Cypriol oil type found in Dunhill century.

This is a mood elevating pick-me-up for sunny spring and summer. Or for dark times when you want to have sunshine in a bottle.

Lotus/iris

Over-sprayed this, coworker said i smelt like a hooker, i took it as a compliment.

TonyPo

Smells like 90’s “green bud”. Planty cannabis note. Like the smell of the stem. Grapefruit has a bit of funk. I like it. I will not be wearing it to work. A Saturday at a buddy’s for a fantasy football draft, yup that’s a moment I would reach for it.

MNH

LOVELY grape with a secret but LOVELY cannabis touch. Too bad the performance is so modest. Splashing this on my skin and clothes in the morning and it goes away before I've reached the office 30 minutes later.

Gioia's secret

That’s the only fragrance from Mugler cologne collections that I like. It reminds me Blackberry & Bay by Jo Malone with its opening, btw I love BB opening but I have never liked its dry down.
Fly away smells the same from the beginning to the end. I can forecast that I will buy it on the next summer

Eveningrose

Just as the notes describe, I can smell grapefruit and the cannabis . I don’t think it smells straight up like weed but it is a very green scent lol the grapefruit in here is so good though! I’d definitely love to layer this with other fresh scents !
Update: this smell has become addictive to me . On cloths , I get whiffs of this throughout the day and it is soo refreshing ! Love !

Rcates78

Quite a lovely surprise! All the "cannabis" I've ever smelled was skunky, so I wasn't sure why one would use it for perfume. I'll just have to take everyone's word here that it's in there, bc there is nothing skunky about this one. What I smell is a soapy, green, pine note, topped with grapefruit, and an herbally sweet dry down that lingers much longer than I expected. Don't misunderstand though, it sits close to your skin, and has almost zero trail, but I sure have been happily sticking my face in my own shirt all day just to take a whiff. I'll be over spraying the next time I wear it to try to enjoy it longer. Not sure I'll buy a full bottle, but I'm enjoying the hell out of my sample.

Edit: After using up my sample, I missed it and had to buy a full bottle. Snagged one for a decent price on the grey market. It smells exactly the same and I successfully registered the box code on the Mugler USA website to claim my Circle Rewards. I sample everything but really try to only purchase what I find unique so that I have a varied collection to choose from (I don't need five, slightly different examples of a preferred note, just one I love). I think this one stands out in my collection bc of the cannabis note (which I don't have another example of) so it was a good addition.

BEmmett20

This is really, really nice - a great, simple and fresh option for the summer heat and humidity that we are about to hit in the northeast US.

I smell more cannabis off of the cap, but you can pick it up on skin - although faintly - in the open. The grapefruit isn’t too sour - and starts to take center stage a bit once it’s on your skin for a few minutes.

From there it begins is actually smells more like grapefruit and a really nice blend of cedar wood to me - which continues to keep you smelling fresh for the next 2-3 hours. It actually has decent longevity for a cologne concentration - you’ll get more a herb / bud smell if you spray on clothes - but this really shines on skin when there is a bit of heat to warm it up.

Overall, for the price, this is very good. Definitely not for everyone, but I think most will enjoy this one.

4/5.

AlaskanAngel

I get an opening of a whole grapefruit whizzed in the blender followed quickly by the addition of Vicks Vapor Rub. Not sure why this is so metholated. The citrus fades but menthol remains with a green/herbal note in the background. Not skunky. No smoke detected. Fresh fragrance but unfortunately medicinal on me.

Review of full bottle blind-buy.

***** Wow this is a beautiful fragrance. I can definetly smell the cannabis in it but it's blendid very well with grapefruit. The cannabis is not like a smoked cannabis, it is like a very pure cannabis. It reminds me of a very rare cannabis that is very pure called "sensimilla" which is a type that is very well cared for not many people know what it is and it is hard to get because of how much care that is taken to grow it. When you see it, it's almost a brilliant green color and very moist. The unsmoked form of "sensimilla" has a wonderful mysterious smell. (I've never smoked it) but I do remember the beautiful green look of it and you won't forget the pleasant smell that it has in it's original form. It's not offensive, it's alluring! Couple this scent with Grapefruit and it gives the "sensimilla" an even more mysterios smoothed out well blended fragrance. Whoever designed this really knows what they're were doing. It's a magical fragrance, but not for everyone. I appreciate it because this is so close to "sensimilla." I never thought I would smell it again but here it is. (Extremely well done)!!!

tyleam

Not sure I smelled cannabis note, but grapefruit scent was front and center. The initial spray smells fruity and feminine due to the grapefruit, but as it dries, it gravitates towards a more unisex scent. Very fresh and very summer. I love it!

justcheckinout

This is essentially grapefruit peel with an herbal vibe. It reminds me of Eau d'orange verte by Hermes, except that the latter uses orange instead of grapefruit. It feels like as if shreds of grapefruit peel and some fresh, green herbs are crushed together to make this perfume. The hemp note has enough presence to balance the citrus notes of grapefruit, which could easily remind people of cleaning products or flavored drinks. Projection is moderate, and longevity is about 6 hours. Perfect for a summer day!

jellisunc

Picked up a bottle at our favorite discounter after seeing how unique and well received this one is. Blast of grapefruit in the opening, yet not quite as juicy as DB Forever, it still smells wonderfully bursting of citrus. However, this goes in a definitely funky way with the cannabis, almost reminiscent of hamster shavings to me (yikes).

As it dries down I get less hamster notes and more funky skunk, which I think works well with the grapefruit.

I am still trying to figure this one out. Its definitely one I would sample, but given its reasonable price I skipped that process.

I will update as I wear it more this week. I always want to love Mugler, but sometimes they just dont mesh how I want them. Hope this isnt the same!

Edit: This one never grew on me, screechy mix of scents that didn't suit my nose well. Im not sure the pure citrus and cannabis thing works here.

Oh well, another one from Mugler I dont care for….

StaticCentreHalf

What an interesting scent?!

Blind bought 100ml of this on ebay for £12.50 so nothing to loose but I love it; primarily because of the huge hit of cannabis which whisked me back 40 years to the refectory of Exeter VI form college (any late teen in early 80s Exeter will know exactly what I mean). Once I got past that - which took a while - in came the citrus but the cannabis turned it to a more mellow soft fruit feel. Advanced dry-down is light woody to my nose.

Fascinating stuff and will definitely be keep an eye out for more - especially at this price.

florian_mayer

Bitter, zesty grapefruit and a freshly opened bag of bud. That is hardly going to be for everyone, but for the £25 I picked this up for I find it a really fun addition to my collection.

Atomikbomb_

Oh wow...this grapefruit is outstanding! Nothing needs to be tweaked here, nothing. I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy just these two notes (so dumb, Alien is really simple, but smells like so much more, I shouldn't have doubted), but this is perfect. And despite the citrus not being absolutely immortal, it does last a good deal longer than most citrus stuff on the market, and I'm totally, totally content with that. This is juicy, crispy (also slightly bitter) grapefruit that jolts the senses, paired with a pungent aromatic spice. Yet, for all of that, it isn't acrid or overkill.

This doesn't smell exactly like cannabis, but it does have elements of the herb. I live near a lot of growers, and I'm familiar with the smell both in the air, and smoked (WA state USA yo!). It's a bit prickly, quite green, and borrows from the scent of weed...but it doesn't pass for it to my nose. The thing is, I'm so content with this that I don't even actually care. Did I want a realistic cannabis smell? Yes. Does it matter? Not really. What it actually does smell slightly of to me is petitgrain and pepper.

This leans slightly masculine to me (I'm just saying that to explain, not imply who should wear this), and projects well.

My Mugler fangirl gauge is rising higher and higher 🪴 📈

Zizi518

Clean, crisp, zesty, juicy grapefruit opening. Super simple and straightforward. First time smelling this it caught me off guard how realistic and pungent the grapefruit is. It smells like freshly peeled off white bits of the grapefruit, as opposed to the flesh of the fruit. It has a smooth, pleasant bitterness in addition to the sweet and acidic aspects. Man this grapefruit note is so addicting I can't stop sniffing my wrist every time I put this on. I personally don't smell the cannabis note that much, if anything it's just a hint. Woody undertone. I personally find this very citrusy but it's interesting that everyone I've shown this to think it smells more woody than citrusy.

Great flanker on the OG Mugler Cologne. Fresh, slightly soapy, deliciously zesty, Mugler Fly Away is uplifting, super easy to wear and enjoy especially in the warmer months. But man the cap is such a turnoff, no idea why they chose to put a super cheap feeling plastic cap that screeches every time for an otherwise decent bottle...

Sampled this while shopping, been looking into colognes both for myself and a male friend who wants to impress a girl, and Mugler impressed me thus far. Anything cannabis has the unique quality of either smelling dank and musty or like beefcake ravioli to me. Grapefruit and ravioli. My mom liked the smell, so to other people this smells herbal.

Seuni

So. Summer daytime. Unisex. Casual.

I don't know about the cannabis. It has a natural, strong, white grapefruit, more like the zest than the actual fruit for me. Slight pineapple-like in the dry down. It's resinous a bit, maybe that's what they mean by the C note, but to me it has a noticable amount of menthol, too. While the longevity is a typical citrus - 4/6 hours, sillage is good for 3/4 hours, the projection is very, very strong for 2. It's strong.

It's good. Nothing artistic, complex, but I don't think it needs to be. Smells strong, natural, and zesty, energizing :) super cheap packaging tho

behemotha

During the first two months of wearing it I could not feel the cannabis at all; however, not that it's getting colder, I am often walking outside and checking for suspicious youngsters. :) It lasts at least 12 hours on the back of my neck. Very refreshing - I'd rather wear it in the summer, though the grapefruit makes me think it would suit winter days as well.

Quite uplifting blind buy.

AbeStreet

An unexpected surprise! A good summertime fragrance. It provides that grapefruit freshness but is not overly sweet. The cannabis note offers a pungent aspect that mingles well with the citrus. This will give the wearer a unique smell that will cause others to pause as they try and place what they are smelling. For a citrus based fragrance I get good performance. Still detectable as a skin scent after four hours.

Luxfare

Zesty citrus boost at first then you can smell the cannabis soon after. Weak as hell though, nice fresh fragrance but wow is it short lasting. I sprayed 5 on my arm and within an half an hour it was a skin scent, within 2 hours I couldn’t smell anything.

Mona708

This and Alien are my favorite Mugler fragrances ❤️ I love how it starts with a realistic bitter grapefruit note. It’s almost like someone cut open a ripe grapefruit and squirted some fresh lemon juice onto it. Another thing that I liked about this scent is how the cannabis note isn’t obnoxiously taking over everything; instead it lends a pleasant herbal sensation that works great with the tart grapefruit. You can actually wear this to a work (if you work somewhere more liberal) without getting the side eye from your coworkers 😂

Cortina1981

I could literally drown myself in that…it’s that great!:)

Cortina1981

Just awsome freshie! To my nose,it goes in mint direction, all that combined together…it’s bitter, zesty and uplifting…perfectly unisex…i’d like to smell this on women and myself. It resembles some of aqua allegoria line from Guerlain. This is a very safe blind buy.

Jerre

I just got it in. I have not worn it officially yet but I have sprayed it on skin to test it out. The very immediate opening it like an angry lemon and an angry grapefruit having a fight with a cannabis plant. And I like it. A few minutes pass and the citrus and cannabis gel together very well and the cannabis takes the lead roll by just a little. About an hour and 15 minutes later its a skin scent with a light citrus scent, but if you rub on the spray spot cannabis resurfaces. I suspect this may not be a high performer. I did use just one spray... Going to let the wife have a go at this one since its unisex. Will update after I wear it a full day.

UPDATE: Oh yes! I really am feeling this. My wife likes it too. She doesn't get the cannabis, she thinks it is a woody scent, takes her back to grandfather's house.. hmm. Anyway. It is not short lived like I thought it would be. It has good performance. Been wearing for 6 hours and it still radiates in little burps of sweet cannabis and lemon/grapefruit. It is really refreshing and pleasant. I find it leans a tad more to the masculine than the other way but really either could pull it off. I could see a woman sporting this. Outgoing - free spirited. This is a fun scent. not a formal scent. Its original and different.

Tolkashutka

I like both grapefruit and cannabis notes in my perfume, but having sampled Fly Away, I can't say that I particularly enjoy the two together.

I like my grapefruit to be clean, uplifting, and leaning heavily towards the feminine side of things--think Chanelle Gabrielle. As for cannabis, I prefer it to lean heavier, darker and more suited for cold weather--think Nasomatto Black Afgano or Narcotica Bright Black.

The mixing of the two is unique and something I have yet to encounter, but I don't particularly enjoy it, at least not in the opening. The grapefruit is far shorter lived (~30 minutes or so) than the cannabis note (a solid 2-2.5 hours), but neither last longer than 3 hours. For the asking price, I'd hope for better longevity, which takes what would be a weak "like" down to a solid "ok". It's hard for me to knock this down to a "dislike", since I do like that it is original and not soon forgotten or smells like so many other things on the market.

Definitely worth sampling, at least once.

lmwimsatt

Smells like the sawdust they use for Guinea pigs

Vilja Vee

Big sweet & tart neon grapefruit, and then: ice menthol cigarettes / tiger balm! After a while I start smelling men's shower gel, shaving foam, mouthwash and toothpaste. Further still something astringent underneath. Definitely giving me that brash glorious Mugler star-icon DNA, something similar to Angel even, without the patchouli and gourmandy notes. Very refreshing like an icy breeze, and has that signature heavy-yet-somehow-also-light sweetness I associate with Mugler perfumes.

A weird allusion I came up with: sort of like a plasmic, turbo-charged bastardized version of CK One, in that they both give ~citrusy urinal cleaner vibes~. 3x more radioactive oomph, but no solemn, poetic & languid depth.

As for the cannabis: not getting much realistic bud. It's more abstractly "dank", more an olfactory illusion than a literal plant extract. Just imagine a super lemony strain of weed that lacks most of the earthy and fecal qualities of bud, but retains the camphorous aspect. That's why I wouldn't go into this thinking it's the most realistic cannabis perfume you can find. To put it plainly, I wouldn't worry about getting arrested walking past cops after dousing yourself with this.

The atomizer shoots big strong bursts with a mist of medium-high fineness. Very satisfying and energizing!

All things considered I do like Fly Away, but it's quite one-dimensional and leaves something to be desired. More like an interesting opening sentence than a complete story. It feels like a pared-down version of a Mugler flagship frag, which might not be entirely a bad thing either if you want something simple yet a little out there. The menthol cigarette-like effect gives it a lot of originality points, however. Definitely unisex and open for interpetation!

Very sparkly and fizzy. Love the scent, gives me a lot of energy. Definitely unisex; smells very cool-girlish on me. I’d say the sillage is pretty impressive for a toilette but the longevity certainly is not... prepare to spritz yourself every 2-3 hours to keep it going!

Living in Amsterdam, I’m quite familiar with the smell of canabis. It’s lingering through the streets in the centre. This is quite a good representation of canabis, combined with some citrus notes. The sillage is great, the longetivity okay. Quite good, escpecially for spring and autumn, but I don’t see wearing it myself, it leaves a bad memory of going to the wrong neighborhoods here ☺️.

curt42

Really like this one. Unlike some here, I do get a nice underlying cannabis note. The grapefruit is not heavy. In fact, there is nothing heavy or distasteful at all about this fragrance. My only complaint is that the name is all too fitting. This one sparkles and refreshes for an hour or two at most, then flies away and does not project much. I've tried layering with some longer lasting summer fragrances but I like this on it's own so much that I prefer it solo. It reminds me of some of Guerlain's fresh, summer offerings that are amazing but short lived. This is a light, happy summer affair that you never get over. Kudos to Mugler & Sonia Constant for this

Register all your Mugler codes! Received a 10 mL from Mugler as a gift by making an account and logging codes on their website. The grapefruit opening is incredibly realistic. Citrus fresh, followed by a woody spicy element that's almost like smelling the grapefruit tree itself. Conjures a sunny day in a citrus orchard -- next to a barbershop ? Unique, no-brainer for spring/summer.

musenkata

Schweppes in grapefruit flavor, linear, sweet, juicy for about 2-3 hours on my skin.

I LOVE this scent! Very uplifting and energizing citrus grapefruit (almost Yuzu) note that's really well balanced with a green-grassy, cedar-like, cannabis (leaf, not bud lol) note. Very chic and clean and lasts a long time and has a great sillage.

This is one of those dumb reach scents. Everyone on here has at least 1. When you need to put on something quick and can't decide. It's simple and basic but effective I guess. I have been a fan of Mugler for years but I see most guys looking at something cheaper like Zara,Ferragamo or Ferrari for this type of scent. The cannabis note is not screaming off your skin like some reviewers say but it is present.

jreyes366

This really does have an effervescent quality to it! This is unexpected and I ADORE the cannabis note. It's green and a little earthy with a peppery edge. I think this is a nice thing to spritz on when you're feeling fun, or when you need a nice pick me up. DISCLAIMER: I am an avid and daily user of cannabis and this is the freshest, most light cannabis and it's not skunks either!

Hsnezz

This stuff totally reeks of pot. If someone had this on, I would assume they have a big bag of weed in their pocket. Very interesting, but I am not a fan. If i wanted to smell like weed, i would just start smoking it. Neither of which are for me - ill stick with the classic cologne.

katsong

Wow! I am impressed that they made this smell as if it was a sparkling drink! It does radiate, the grapefruit at first is sweet, but then the underlying herbal notes leaves it more masculine. The scent is not rounded but fizzy. It's very interesting, definitely worth a sniff. 7.5/10

Lishypants

Blind bought this based on reviews, and quite happy with it. It's a real blast of fresh white grapefruit with lots of bitter pith along with the juice. Then right away under the citrus is a spunky funky herbal blast.

The weed note is legit. It's not Smokey at all, and this will only be recognisable to folks who have some experience with fresh ganga or good quality skunk. This could come across a little on the BO spectrum to some.

Once it burns down the grapefruit shifts a bit more masculine musky, and the spunky weed note develops into a darker green champhorus herb very similar to fresh thyme.

I'm a big fan, but it's not safe for all, and I am conscious of not wanting to wear to work.

Joeortiz91

Smells great and different from any other cologne type scent. The fruity/citrus green mix is great. I do not think thats cannabis to be honest and im glad its not because its something i would wear anywhere even to work. The green note seems like some type of herbal mix to me. Something like eucalyptus and maybe rosemary. At first reminded me of something foresty like pine but deff more of a eucalyptus. The last thing this smells like to me is cannabis but great all the same.

diva_100

This is beautiful. Definately leans masculine but it's fresh and addicting. Strong scent with good concentration, radiates well over an arms length in the first hour. It does not last more than 4-5 hours after that. To describe the smell - imagine walking on the beach just before twilight, the sea breeze is blowing this unique scent around you and you feel mysterious and sexy. That's what it smells like.

sir reeksalot

just got 10 ml of this today and it is indeed marihuana. i recognized the hemp right off as i'm into CBD right now.i suspect the use of vetiver too because as it settles it gives off a hint of encre noir l'extreme.the grapefruit scent is more like the grapefruit seed smell and so is the herb.the first blast is where you get the wonderful herb seed oil and flower bud smell.yes sir i think sonia constant stumbled upon a cannabis note while tinkering with vetiver and citrics.the opener is what makes this very unique

joy3141

I just received a sample of this and wanted to see what all the fuss is about the cannabis note. It's definitely there! This smells like a freshly showered wook on the Denver light rail. It's definitely interesting... Sure doesn't last long. In the time it's taken me to type this on my phone, the scent has faded to something like... Pledge. I might go scrub.

Mr.noise

What a beautiful, original, fragrance. 4/5

raiza1990

I think this is the first grapefruit dominant scent that i can say i really like. It smells great! Bitter and fresh and not like sweat. And the light verbal sweetness is so pleasant! This is vacation in a bottle! Simple but addictive and uplifting fragrance.
Thumbs up!
Final note: 10/10

Never having smelled cannabis before, I was rather intrigued by the inclusion of that note in Fly Away.

This opens with a juicy grapefruit burst, but within seconds, a woody, camphoraceous note overtakes it and remains at the forefront for the rest of the drydown. That woody note instantly brought me back to my last trip to Japan, where I visited a workshop that made products from hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood. Its sharp, bracing terpenic-woody odour is unmistakable!

I definitely wasn't expecting this, and instead assumed that it would be somewhat green, grassy and somewhat smoky (that much is true!). This is an interesting discovery, and I might gift a bottle of this to my father, who loves woodworking - especially with hinoki!

everil.f

The best of the Mugler Cologne line, the original notwithstanding. The grapefruit rind is very realistic, didn't know the other note was hemp when smelling it but I can see how it supports the citrus so well.

ApathyAngel

I'll be honest, I hesitated in trying this because of the cannabis note. We live in a state where it's legal, and my husband smokes it, and I cannot stand the way it smells.

So I sure as hell wasn't looking to wear cologne that smelled anything like it.

But this actually isn't bad. I'd even go as far as to say I like it. And it doesn't smell like weed to me. Or at least not noticeably. If I dig my nose into my wrist and pay attention, I can detect it mixed in with the grapefruit, but otherwise, no.

There's something familiar and green about it, something about whatever that "secret C note" is, I assume, but I can't put my finger on it.

As with the other four, projection and longevity are nonexistent.

nszlufik

Invigorating, fresh grassy scent with a dash of sweetness. Effervescent sparkling quality to it and quite uplifting which is fitting for the name. Price is on par with what youd expect from a perfumer like Mugler given the quality/performance of the juice which is to say it projects well initially but doesnt have the potency to stay long on the skin. Scent is great, performance is only ok. Lasts longer on clothes than skin. I use it as a pre-workout ...gets me going and by the time Im about to break my first sweat it is imhard to perceive. That or Im asnomic to it. Will update with further use. One thing is cetain, I do not regret the purchase.
UPDATE 1: After several days of wear, I can say that performance of this in the moderate/temperate Texas winter temperatures is poor. Scent is great but the performance is poor. This remains a pick-me-up scent before a workout as it smells great but dies down very quickly. While I enjoy having tried this, given the performance on skin, I will likely not be purchasing another bottle.

ForrealMe2

Fly away is such a great scent with the grapefruit and cannibis and it's not a strong weed note you would think its very slight and blending in to give this nice fresh blend..it's very fresh and sweet like a sparkling grape juice but in this case with grapefruit..it doesn't sparkle so to say but you know the freshness you smell from the sparkling grape juice..this grapefruit have that same freshness..it's hard to explain..and after you spray this you are left with wafts of the fragrance from time to time that is actually very good and make this a stand out fragrance of the whole collection outside of Run Free..Run Free smells more like what I would of imagined Alien Man maybe to be because of the jasmine note in it..either way Fly Away is the scent that really sticks out to me out of the whole bunch that I really like and I wonder if my husband would like..it's definitely a must try out of the whole collection

wesleyhclark

My very first impression of this scent was not good; it smelled like a dusty citrus fruit. That is, a citrus fruit set aside in a room that has not been dusted or cleaned in a long time and takes on a dirty/musty smell.

But then I tried again with another skin spray and got a better sense of the subdued (not fresh or zingy) grapefruit note mixed with that seems like a juniper or cypress (green) note, a camphorous note and the musk. It now makes more sense.

I like it better than I did at my first whiff, but, overall, I think Atelier does a much better job with citrus and, especially, grapefruit. In no way does this grapefruit "sparkle."

But yes, I'd wear this, despite the undeniable fact that it does smell a bit institutional (like a cleanser).

Secret "C": note - oh, please. It's really an "M" note for Marketing.

JEDI 2.0

I received samples of the 5 new colognes, and finally got around to trying this one.

Right away, I LOVE IT! The grapefruit opening smells very natural, in fact it smells like the semi-bland fruit that grows on my tree in the backyard. Not very sweet and a little bland as far as grapefruits go, but still very pleasant.

Within just a few minutes, i start to get a slight herbal vibe, more like the green stems of some plant or flower, and not necessarily cannabis. So if you saw the cannabis note and thought "DUDE! YEAH!", keep looking, because this doesn't smell at all like the devil's lettuce.

The overall composition is nice, certainly not $70 nice though. I would only buy it for the sake of having all 5, and unless it goes down in price I'll be skipping this. I'd rate this 7.5 out of 10, it's hard to dislike really, but not very groundbreaking by any means.

StarlingT

This reminds me of the powerful grapefruit of the original Prescriptive's Calyx. Upon (Mugler's Fly Away) opening it's a citrus bomb with a bit of bud; which feels like part of nature and quite nice.

It quickly transcends into a citrus and woody scent (like the type of wood that Commes des Garcons does so well). It's clean and beautiful. The musk keeps it smooth, yet heady.

Maybe, I'm also smelling some juniper berry, cedar, and cypress.

At drydown, it is somewhat reminiscent of Kilian Straight to Heaven---the version with lemon.

Note: The eucalyptus is seamless, yet distinct (like you're standing in the middle of Pier I.)

oovoojaver

Orange soda and mint. I don't smell the weed. Good frag but bad longevity.

Chuntset

This has the definite aroma of fresh buds of the marijuana plant. Pleasant and outdoorsy.

A nice summer scent but I would not recommend wearing it to a job interview or traveling internationally as you may give an unwanted impression.

evilspin

I got a sample of these 5 new takes on Muglers “cologne” through the mail yesterday. They were nice but nothing to right home about. I first tried the orange one and it was the most feminine for me so then the blue was up next and I found it meh. When I tried the green one it smelled close to the orginal scent. When I tried the yellow and pink ones I knew they were the ones I would buy. The pink was one of the best despite the feminine bottle. It was wood and ginger and he most masculine of the 5. The yellow one I loved as well as it had ginger and wood notes

vkmcewen

I got a folded flier with samples of all 5 fragrances. This is my second to try. Just no. It smells just like bathroom cleaner to me. Specifically Comet powder with a little Scrubbing Bubbles spray foam stuff on top. So it does smell clean, but not in a way that I would like to smell...

ReapThaWhirlwind

Fly Away is a citrus aromatic. The opening presents an inspiring accord of a heavily sweetened grapefruit, with light-green botanical accents laced into it. Itself is semi-sweet, musky, and uplifting. It's not a druggie cannibis note in the least, but moreso reflects the dynamic botanical aspects, and all their artistic potential.

There is a minty mentholated botanical essence underlying the main accord, which as suggested (being embodied by the secret, effervescent C note), strikes me as an obvious cajuput note possibly. It is weedy, semi-sweet/sticky, and stingy—making a perfect compliment to the botanical aspects of the cannibis note here.

If I could sum the fragrance up in a meme, it would be Art Student Owl. "It is not crap—but it is not great either." Which is really funny, seeing as how I would expect this one to be a fan favorite among this collection. It is easy to enjoy, and has subtle, yet stimulating features to it. Laid-back and optimistic.

It doesn't remind me of anything else, which boasts another dynamic attribute for this fragrance, in being so unique.

Shaheen

Of the 5 fragrances that comprise the new Mugler Rainbow Collection, I find Fly Away (Yellow) the most challenging. It's essentially a lemon/grapefruit-dominant scent, however this is combined with a prominent menthol/eucalyptus/camphor note. In fact, this smells very similar to lemon-flavored menthol cough drops (think Halls cough drops or perhaps Vicks VaporRub).

I'm not a big fan of menthol or similar notes, so I'm on the fence regarding this fragrance.

Fly Away also contains a noticeable green note which is probably the listed hemp/cannabis leaf. FYI, it doesn't smell anything like marijuana. It's much closer to fern.

I also detect a bit of cedar in the base, which isn't a listed note.

I would wager that the secret "C" note is either camphor or cedar (although I do smell both).

All in all, this is my least favorite of the 5 new Mugler Cologne Rainbow releases. It's not a bad fragrance by any means, but that menthol note is an acquired taste.
