Successful blind purchase. I heard this smells similar to Stella by Stella McCartney and that's all I needed to know to secure a bottle. I'm obsessed. The second I smelled the atomizer, it immediately reminded me of Stella. I couldn't believe it! That's never happened to me before and I've smelled hundreds of rose fragrances just to find one that gave me as much joy as Stella did. Difficult to accomplish, I know. Stella was a one-of-a-kind fragrance. Anyway, Rose by Paul Smith is a beautiful, bright yet light, sparkling, slightly green rose fragrance. It has a subtle sweetness but it's not synthetic smelling IMO. Longevity isn't the greatest. I get maybe five hours on skin MAX. Even though this is a discontinued fragrance, the prices are reasonable for it right now. I'm going to get a few backup bottles before this disappears forever from the market and/or suddenly triples in price.

Antoshka2

I wish they’d do a mens version of this! I absolutely love it but it it just far to feminine for me to wear personally but I tend to buy this as a gift for everyone close to me. It really is a beautiful burst of very rosy fragrance. If they could just butch it up slightly with a bit of wood or musk I would definitely wear it!

sereena

Really lovely. If you like rose perfumes, this is an easy buy. Very affordable. I smell straight rose with some green and little bit of freshness. Kind of like smelling the rose flower and a bit of the stem. Not too synthetic either. Reminds me of Roses by Chloe but this is more affordable. Chloe lasts a lot longer and is more rose than green, but considering the price point, this is fine. Not huge projection but extremely pleasant. Good perfume.

thaochipnd

Smells real fresh Rose, just like Chloe Rosa Damascena but fresher. Since Chloe Rosa Damascena came out in 2019, I would say that looks like Paul Smith Rose. Rose paradise is in the bottle, but the longevity of Paul Smith Rose on my skin is too poor, only < 3 hours.

Rating: 7.5/10

Yalishanxiao

Sometimes I get a nice fresh green rose, other times it smells a bit synthetic and sharp. For the after shower freshness it’s ok. Because it really doesn’t last, I don’t use it as a day scent. Quality and price are in balance, but don’t expect too much.

Lothlorienbayou

I blind bought this after it was recommended as a fresh rose, but this gives me a headache and smells like rose flavoured sweets. I was hoping it’d be closer to Chloe, but with more punch. This is too cloying and sweet for me, and I don’t get any of the green sharpness. I might try again in Spring.

Enrium

Paul Smith Rose has been described as a great fresh rose soliflore, and as a rose lover, I had to try it. It is officially discontinued, but is readily available on discount websites, and I got a big bottle for about €30. It isn't anything unusual, but I got exactly what I came for: a good-quality rose freshie, natural-smelling and realistic. It a rosewater-like scent, in the manner of Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose/Jo Malone Red Roses/Stella McCartney. This is less sharp and more well-rounded than Tea Rose, a bargain rose I love, and is a little more complex yet cheaper and easier to find than Stella/Jo. In fact, I like this scent more than these other, more celebrated, English roses.

PSR opens with a realistic, dewy rose note, well-rounded and wonderfully smooth - like a rose bush in bloom. This rose note remains the focal point throughout, with the other notes serving to complement it. There is a lovely green undertone, giving a stem-like freshness.

As it develops, soft violet becomes evident, powdery and delicate. It complements the rose note - itself becoming increasingly powdery - without forming a lipstick accord. It instead remains green and floral.

A predictable woody-musky drydown follows, soft and cohesive, complementing the florals to perfection. It fades to a musky rose skin scent. Sillage and longevity are moderate.

A feminine spring/summer rose soliflore, this is an underrated fresh rose scent, high-quality and unassuming. The rose note at its core is light and sheer yet has body. It is an elegant, polite yet deeply satisfying everyday scent for rose lovers, particularly for those not keen on patchouli. It is nothing groundbreaking, but really delivers. A classic English rose. 4/5.

VanillaPeaches

It's a fresh clean rose scent. I love it. Bought it for myself after an old friend of mine was obsessing over the scent of roses and she bought this. I don't use it that often. Good for spring. Very definitely a rose scent, so if you don't like that smell of roses it's not for you. Very classic and feminine.

MyScentBubble

I used to absolutely love this but I repurchased it and my tastes or sense of smell have completely changed as it was more powdery than I remembered, I don't like it at all anymore

alice_w

This is a nice rose perfume, and it could be purchased at a very affordable price. However, it is a bit plain for me. I love the package though (a rose painted by watercolour). It would make a nice and safe gift.

otterfaces

My go-to Spring fragrance- clean, fresh, rosy, simple. I get compliments on this one a lot. Decent longevity and projection, and lasts ages on clothes.

muriel_puce

Yummy.

This was a blind buy for me after researching the best rose fragrances. I feel like I have tried them all at this point... I dislike most floral perfumes but the true smell of roses really does it for me so I have been on a years long quest to find my favorites. Paul Smith Rose takes a spot in my favorite rose scents of all time. The others would include #1 Aerin "Rose de Grasse", #2 "Paul Smith Rose", #3 the new "Rose Amber" by 7 Virtues, #4 Jo Malone "Red Roses" and #5 "Stella" by Stella McCartney. If you like these rose fragrances, you may love Paul Smith Rose and it would be a safe blind buy if we like similar fragrances.

Paul Smith Rose is universally loved and probably my most complimented. I work in the wedding industry and this perfume is enjoyed by wedding guests and vendors alike- they stop me to ask what I'm wearing (sometimes many hours after applying). It is about 50% rose and 50% fresh (the green tea and cedar) with no hint of sweetness or embellished floral notes like the Stella or Rose Amber. This perfume is not trying to be sexy or loud or flirty, but this almost makes it sexier IMO. I feel confident, unique, dainty, and feminine in this perfume.

Paul Smith Rose is my crowd pleasing, day time, any season, at work, at the pool, all around MVP. The only fragrance that can beat it (for me) is Aerin's Rose de Grasse which costs a fortune but is absolutely perfect.

Mdk

This is one of my everyday perfumes.
Only when I hide my own personality and act as a good, harmless person who just smiles quietly.
In other words, this perfume is an elegant, simple, universal and safe rose perfume that no one finds offensive. (unless someone has some kind of hatred for roses)

A soft pink rose scent reminiscent of Centifolia roses.
Neither extremely powdery nor lush. There is almost no change in fragrance due to dry down.
Simply, the scent of pale pink roses like the color of the liquid.

I look for individuality in the scent, so I feel like this, but I think it's perfect for those who want a general rose scent.
For a simple rose perfume, I prefer Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose, which has a greener, more realistic rose scent.

Pat_Chouli

This is a very pretty fragrance but as a big time rose lover I was hoping it smelled more intensely and directly like roses as the name suggests. Instead it's balanced with a lot of tea, which is still really pleasant and reminds me of nestea / sweet tea with lemon (and a bunch of roses), but that's not what I was looking for when I blind bought this. So if you're looking for a rosy, fresh floral fragrance that's a little sweet in a natural way but you don't want a pure rose bomb, give this a try. I think it'd be hard not to like this. I swapped my bottle but now I'm kicking myself for it 😅

Lili1105

I am very happy that my blind purchase wwas successful.. I was deciding between Paul and Roses de Chloé, but I was discouraged by the fruit there and I think I did well, although ok, I haven't tried Chloé. But this is exactly the rose scent I've been looking for for so long. Fresh, soft, sparkling, no oily hangover. There are also green elements, but they do not stand out. I personally smell more green leaves and stem there than tea. The tea would be more muted, heavier, this is sparkling, light and juicy. Although I would like the rose to be more red than wild, anyway, it's a lot of music for a little money. Don't look for complexity, it's a simple more or less linear scent, but it's magical. Magic wild rose. In my opinion, this is the perfect scent for spring and although it is youthful, I wouldn't mind it on an older lady either, because I'm not 20 anymore either :D If you're looking for a delicate scent of fresh roses, you've come to the right place and you really won't go wrong with a blind purchase. .This is probably my most successful yet...

UPDATE: Regarding the lasting power of the perfume, I can say that surprisingly I can still feel it on me the next day. For me, the lasting power is excellent for a rose perfume...

Rose1412

Pretty, green rose scent. Doesn't last on me though.

missile414

I really love this scent! A pretty, dewy, uncomplicated green rose at a great price. But I hate the bottle! Why oh why.

SailorRoss

It reminds me of Tea Rose by the Perfumer’s Workshop, but less harsh. Initially, I pick up on the green tea and then it’s a slightly sweet sparkling rose. The middle is like drinking strawberry champagne in a rose garden. It's just a little too sharp for me. I can only spray it on my lower body or it gives me a headache.

Brooke1988

I picked this one up for under $25 and I am impressed! Upon first spray I get a gently sweetened, chilled green tea. Within a few minutes, I start picking up soft pink rose and magnolia. There is a lemony freshness to the magnolia that I find really beautiful and realistic. The magnolia dissipates (unfortunately!) and leaves way for the dry down which to my nose is a light airy rose with clean musk. The fragrance is not overly sweet and there is a slight tartness which I find refreshing. I like wearing it alone, but it also layers beautifully with sweet vanilla fragrances.

VictoriaJune

A blind buy for me and I'm not mad at it! I don't get any powdery notes sadly just fresh rose with lots of 'green' to stop it being too sickly or synthetic. It doesn't last past 4 hours or so on my skin & no one has commented on it whilst wearing it either so I'm guessing silage is quite poor or I need to spray a lot more, but I hate drowning myself in a scent so I will be content with keeping this as a pleasant spring/summer every day fragrance when I want a pretty, rosy spritz.

AshBud

Bought this is a potential dupe for Roses De Chloe, which I LOVE, but I was truly disappointed. Dont get me wrong, it has potential, but its incredibly weak and close to the nose there is a synthetic note that doesnt sit well. Every once in a while, I get a whiff of a sweet and soft rose, but its incredibly short lived. Great buy for a pre-teen, but I prefer something just a little bolder.

jomxlohx

A fresh and dewy rose with a hint of green tea. Bright yet serene and relaxing. Better than a lot of overpriced rose fragrances out there. This one’s a hidden gem.

gendabenda

this smells great. it lasts about 5 minutes on my skin.

lesritesdelavie

I loved the tester and got myself a bottle in March. But then I felt it is too synthetic-fresh for me. Now it has gotten warmer outside and the lovely green shampoo-rose comes out as really refreshing.
If you like calvin klein fresh scents but want it more feminine-floral then here you go. Perfect everyday scent for summer. Daytime and office friendly, could work well even on young teenagers. Simple but perfect.

Melaniesherriff

Think fresh dewy rose bouquet. This is the most rosey rose perfume you will find. If its rose scent you looking for this is the one. Its delicate elegant and fresh. You can layer this with body shop english rose body butter and yardley english rose talc. Its absolutely gorgeous. It has a similar scent to issy miyake city blossom. If you like one you will like the other

nellyrlight

THE best Rose perfume out of my dozens of rose perfumes!!!

Heliotropea

Absolutely lovely natural fresh rose !
Ideal for real rose lovers. Reminds me of Rose Essentielle Bvlgari which has been discontinued and was (and certainly is now) much more expensive. Paul Smith Rose's longevity is medium as is the sillage but the price definitely permits spraying regularly. I do every 3 hrs or so. Sometimes I layer it with Paris YSL or Bvlgari Femme. Very compatible.

TIP for those who find Tea Rose (The Perfumers Workshop) not fresh enough and Paul Smith Rose not long lasting (enough) : Spray TR first and then PSR directly on top.
This gives you the best of both worlds : a long lasting, fresh rose scent. (Don't rub wrists but gently press together)

VargaZsuzsanna

Preparing for the spring/summer season I bought this blind, again based on your opinions, fellow Fragranticans. I have never had a soliflower perfume before but I was craving rose so much I had to get it. I must agree with the majority here: I get a very nice fresh rose in the perfume which doesn't turn nor sweet nor powdery. It will be perfect for the coming warmer months, using alternately with my other summery fragrances. I think I would get very bored with it if I used only this one tho as it is pleasant but quite simple. I still recommend it for fresh rose lovers.

cynners

To my nose his is the exactly the same as Mancera's Roses Greedy but better price and longevity. If you are looking for a sweet rose, this is not for you but if you are a fan of fresh aquatic rose, you will like this one .

washudtoj

All I get is rose rose rose rose rose and nothing else.

It's exactly like Yves Rocher Eau Fraîche Rose, which has only dewy rose in it.

As much as I like Antoine Maisondieu's creations, this one turns flat on me. I don't dislike it, but I'm not that impressed, either.

I get zero powder, but lots of fresh rose to the extent it becomes headache-inducing. I'm going to pass on this one.

amandawilliamspalmer

Went to the Paul Smith flagship boutique in Covent Garden in London and there behind the counter in pride of place, 15 years since it was launched, was Paul Smith Rose. Despite this perfume being available at discounters online, the Paul Smith brand still loves this creation and so do I.

Mez0Nez

This has a sharp and synthetic watery, green vibe and that makes me nauseous. but this is a really good single rose perfume if you can bear those first impressions. not PEA type, to me, It is so much of Citronellol and Geraniol, Maybe a little touch of Nerol.

PeridotVanilla1

Sophisticated, classy and girly! This is a great rose scent that compares very well to MFK's A La Rose.. I would say it's an exact dupe but this one has a harsher opening than MFK's. Still a lovely scent perfect for spring and summer. This was a great blind buy and really should be a staple in anyone's collection specially if you're looking for a rose perfume . This is great!

Mr. Boston

Synthetic fresh rose. Smells like a bathroom product.

Jasmine Joy

This perfume smells beautiful! It smells like a fresh rose with a hint of green tea. The green tea actually stops it from smelling too sharp. A little sweet smelling but mainly straight up rose. For a perfume that was launched in 2007, this does not smell dated at all. Doesn't last as long as I would like but I will just refresh throughout the day. Perfect perfume for the Spring and Summer seasons.

Cajou

I don't like to write negative reviews, but I feel I need to say something that can prevent someone from a fail blind buy.
If you like rose fragrances, don't have a picky nose and don't mind spending some bucks with blind buys, then go on. If so many people praise this perfume, chances are big it's a good perfume. And I do believe for most people it is!
But I have to say it's not for everyone. And don't buy it if you're looking for a dupe for Eau Rose or A La Rose, because it is not. I love both these perfumes, while I can't stand Paul Smith's. I can't explain why, but it is extremely annoying, it has a very weird fruity sweet tone, the tea is nose prickling and it's so synthetic smelling. I wish I'd love it, but I can't. Maybe I got a bad batch? Could be...

d_silent_one

Oh my God, this is so good! I was brimming with fear and anticipation over this one given that I bought it blindly and I'm generally afraid of rose perfumes (but ironically, I have many rose perfumes). A bad rose perfume can be awful for me so I'm always very careful researching the correct ones to buy according to what I read and test before buying them. This one was 100% successful. It is true what they say that this is a realistic bouquet of roses. To me they are pink, but the real beauty comes in with the violet that truly balances out this composition to perfection. This is so well blended, it begs me to wear more of it. The roses and the sweetness of the violet are combined at the perfect ratio making it seem realistic but softened enough with the right touch of violets. This is perfection of roses in a bottle, so soft, delicate and feminine. This is what I call a "pretty" perfume.

Snt_Gulab

I’m gonna keep it real simple. You like coco Mademoiselle? You like Chloe signature? Me too. We’re all pretending to be unique but we’re the same and there’s no shame in that. This will fit that same mysterious flirty everyday clean girl image we all die for.

This is 100% hands down original dupe for Eau Rose, which I couldn’t justify buying because I already have Oud Palao and Philosykos. I saw that this was recommended as a dupe. Amazing. EXACT same. I made my husband smell it as is my Favourite summer fragrance and he couldn’t tell the difference. Quality of ingredients, sillage, longevity, it’s all identical.

I feel like for Diptyque you’re just paying for that gorgeous bottle. Which is not worth an extra $200 sorry. No one is gonna see the bottle but everyone is gonna smell the scent. Rather this than shelling out money. The other Diptyque fragrances have no dupe that’s an exact copy like this fragrance is for Eau Rose.

This is super safe blind buy if you like the others I mentioned. Perfect summer fresh rosey floral. Beautiful summer dress type and having a picnic under a tree fragrance.

Gin Palace

I love rose scents as roses are one of my favourite flowers. I came across this when, a few years ago now, my then mother in law sadly died. As she didn’t have any daughters, and I got on with her, I was given a few things, this perfume being one of them. I had never tried it, but smelled it and became a convert! I ended up buying a few bottles of it when I had used that up! I haven’t got any at the moment, as was trying out other fragrances, but it’s a classic rose scent, inoffensive, pretty. I’ll probably go back to it sometime in the future, nothing to dislike.

Lalunalynn

I'm not a fan of rose scents and this is no exception. However, that being said, this is the most realistic Rose scent I have ever got my nose on, and admittedly that isn't many because of my dislike, it was just there so I picked it up. This is like bending your head down and taking a good ole whiff of a real rose. You could close your eyes and be fooled. Honestly, it's so so realistic. When I tested this I accidently got a bit on my mask from where I pulled it down and a tad was on my fingers. I have now been smelling this for a few days (yes, I'm not one to wash my mask daily 🤷🏼) anyway, if you like Rose scented frags, this is definitely for you, but to me that's all it is, not much else going on. Oh, and it's cheap 👍

Barbantio4711

This is the hidden gem of hidden gems. I will never forget smelling this on a girl in my lab, freshman year of college. She smelled dainty, feminine and fresh. Like water drops on a pink rose. I told her it was the best rose perfume I had ever smelled, to which she revealed it was Paul Smith. Whose that? I remembered this perfume and bought it immediately after I graduated and found a job. I’ve smelled countless rose perfumes, and only a few smell this refined. This smells identical to MFK A la Rose. I think not many reviewers have smelled both MFK and Paul Smith, so its not widely discussed as a dupe. Trust me, it’s the same smell.

jahzarah

I loved this scent initially. At first, it smells very synthetic, but after it dries down it really does smell like a fresh rose. However, now I can't tell if the performance is just weak or if I've gone nose blind to it. Maybe I need to be a lot more liberal with how much I spray.

Snt Vero

I'm not sure, this doesn't smell like a very good rose (too synthetic). Maybe it just doesn't work on my skin because I'm smelling a lot of rubbing alcohol. It reminds me too much of a party.
My boyfriend just said he thinks its too "older smelling". Its a little plain in my opinion (just nothing but rose). All that said: I think for someone who wants a strong scent, this is a pretty good choice. Though I think there are better rose options than this one.

clairesque

This is a pretty spot-on dupe for Diptyque Eau Rose. A green, dewy, realistic rose scent but with a hint of sweetness that makes the fragrance a bit feminine. Not at all "perfumey" or "old lady" which are common complaints with rose-dominant scents. A simple fragrance but great for the price and perfect if you love a natural rose.

iremis

Inoffensive, feminine, light, pretty rose fragrance. I love rose fragrances a lot, so i wanted to try this one since its really affordable. I’m glad i tried it and bought a full bottle.

I bought a decant first, hoping it would be something like Chloe Signature so i can use this one daily without worrying about the cost. However this isnt like Chloe at all. This is a more realistic rose, it isnt airy and super clean like Chloe. Just literally smells like a fully bloomed pink rose.

Its not heavy or old lady-like. Green tea lifts the rose a bit and makes it younger. Every age group can rock this daily though. Definitely day-time fragrance, more suited to spring-summer. On me, it performs well and projects beautifully for 4 hours.

The bottle comes in a very cute rose print pouch, but i personally dont like the bottle, this fragrance deserves a prettier, more feminine bottle.

The only downside is it doesnt smell expensive, but its not expensive so you get what you pay for. Also first 20 mins i get a very deodorant-y smell which i think the musk notes doing? I dont know. Over all amazing affordable fragrance for rose lovers.

Dani C.

Wow! This is the most realistic rose/white rose that I ever smelled. I first smell the rose+tea combination. Later the violet comes to the party. So so beautiful and high quality for the price. Not your granny roses. This is refreshing, feminine and elegant. This is polite and heavenly. You will smell like rose petals guaranteed. Longevity is not bad for a fresh scent, 5 hours on my skin... and it projects, definitely yeah!

RainbowGirl

This is not my FAVORITE rose perfume, but it is my favorite affordable rose perfume. The opening is green tea, (which is a hint cirtusy), rose, and violet. Which makes this a fresh, pretty, slightly powdery, rose.

There's something really comforting about this rose fragrance. Something almost clean smelling. Like sleeping in, on a sunny spring morning, in your clean bed sheets, with a single rose on your end table. Maybe a magnolia tree outside your bedroom window.

This is mostly a skin scent for me. I do occassionaly get a scent aura around me, but it's fleeting.

Lasts about three hours, but the price is amazing, so I don't mind spraying a lot, and reapplying often.

I especially like wearing this fragrance to bed. Makes me feel like... it's going to be a beautiful morning.

Carolain

I love this and I'm on my 5th bottle. Very rosy as the name suggests but not a granny/old lady type of rose scent, it's very contemporary and fresh. It smells just like a bunch of fresh cut roses, violets and green tea. When I inhale this and close my eyes I can imagine myself in a beautiful rose garden.
Simple, feminine, elegant and you won't annoy anyone with this scent. I can see girls and women of any age wearing this frangrance. One of my favourites.

AnnaElli

Very fresh, soft, uplifting and modern rose. Clean, classy, but not in an old fashioned way, on contrary, it is very youthful and light. Very pleasant to smell and easy to wear every day fragrance. After about 2-3 hours it turns into soft quite powdery scent. I blind bought it based upon the reviews comparing this one to MFK A La Rose, which I am in love with. I definitely see the similarities, yet still MFK to me stays unbeatable, probably because of the fresh citrusy note and lack of powderiness. Maybe PS Rose is a bit closer to the L'eau A La Rose, I'd say. Nonetheless for this price point it was a great buy.

Madnanavej

Love this perfume, it was a super cheap blind buy. The scent opens with a rose/ green tea combination. It’s like rose layered over Green Tea by EA with small pockets of sugary sweetness. As it dries down the rose intensifies and the green tea diminishes to be replaced by sweetness and powdery notes. fortunately the sweetness isn’t heavy or cloying, it’s light. Overall I love it as a rose scent. Will layer it over my hayba oud by Ajmal. Good for daily or office use. I kept wanting to sniff my wrist, it’s that appealing. This will definitely be a long-term keeper.

Yimyim2525

0/10 annoying smell , I guess I don’t like green tea and violet but then rose is synthetic and too sharp to my nose.

hayleilei

fresh, happy, straightforward rose with a bit of green that is lovely to wear and makes others feel good too. scent of my 20s for sure, partly because it's incredibly affordable. while i wouldn't say it has clean or soapy notes, it makes you feel clean. my mom has since adopted it as her own scent so i no longer wear it but i'm happy that she loves it - particularly as she has never loved fragrance!

flooferpoofer

Probably my favourite rose perfume ever! It's a fresh green floral scent that is light and inoffensive, and the rose and green tea notes blend and harmonise very well together. It's a beautiful dewy rose without being too sweet or cloying. In fact, it's dewy freshness reminds me of a garden after the rain. Its longevity and silage leave a little more to be desired, but its affordable price point makes it easier for a more generous application and frequency.

It's a really comforting, cosy scent for me and I even wear it to bed!

Science&Scents

So good! I mean, really good! I went on a rose kick a few months back and heard about this one on youtube, found a nearly full partial and was NOT disappointed. Talk about a rose that hits the spot.

It's fresh, modern rose. That tea in the opening is rather citrusy to my nose. Perfect signature scent and couldn't be mistaken for Chloe if it tried. It's not soapy just fresh--but not green or herbal. I think it does the best in spring and summer since in the cold it's a bit too sharp. The heat really softens it--or at least brings out the musk enough to round it out without weighing it down. It's formidable but not intrusive. Just a stunner!

Rose lovers must try this one!

figwasp

When I was growing up there were these tiny little rose and violet sweets (I think they were just called "roses and violets", but I'm not sure and I can't find them online) - they were small round, hard drops like tiny boiled sweets, with a little dusted sugar. They were very fragrant and weren't syrupy, chewy, powdery, or chalky like Parma Violets. This perfume smells EXACTLY like them, except maybe slightly less sweet/crystallized, and a little more fresh and green.

I like it a lot! It's the only rose perfume I've found that suits me, although possibly that's because it's as least as much a violet perfume, it's pretty well balanced between the two.

This is extremely similar to A la rose by MFK but a lighter version with the tea note being more present and light roses in the background. This isn’t a rose water scent IMO but it’s kinnda in the same category - light and easy to wear. I prefer A la rose but I’m not mad about having this in my collection. Good for layering.

I'm staying in a hot and humid and wheathered country. Rose fragrances are my favourite.
Notes that I could captured: Rose & Green Tea.
Longevity: Moderate
Sillage: Within my personal space.
I personally think that Paul Smith has a very similar scent with Morrocan Rose by The Body Shop.

My husband loves it too, but Red Roses from Jo Malone remains his favourite. Since I mentioned, the rose in Paul Smith, isn't in the same category as in Red Roses JM. The one in Red Roses JM is purely rose, like a Rose water. While Paul Smith's rose has a combination scents with Green Tea and powdery or musky notes. Makes it a powdery musky soft rose.

pri23chaya

If you're a sucker for a GOOD rose scent, then this is one you need to try. A lot of the rose fragrances I've owned in the past have been either too sweet, too powdery or just plain artificial-smelling. PS Rose is a light, fresh and -- best of all -- authentic rose fragrance that isn't too "in your face", as some floral scents can be. The perfect feminine, romantic perfume that I save for the spring and summer seasons, day or night.

The longevity of this perfume is also fantastic, I often find that clothes I'd worn days prior sometimes still have the lingering scent. I'm on my second bottle and will always continue to repurchase, especially given its very reasonable price tag!

ena_sexysweet93

Clean, unassuming, and simple fragrance. On me, this is just straight on rose water and musk. Completely linear, no change at all from first spray till drydown. But definitely still more complex than a BBW body spray. Not that I'm complaining, but given all the online raves I thought there would be something a bit more complex about it. It is cheap though, and I enjoy layering this with something else or spraying it all over my sheets.

Longevity is pretty awful, can't even smell it on my skin anymore after 1 hour of spraying into the crook of my elbow. Sillage is good for the time it lasts on the skin. A perfume suitable for hot weather.

Mystères du Château de Dé

Rose is a beautifully smooth and uncomplicated fragrance. Nose to skin I get more rose, in the projection more violet and almost a berry though it's not a fruity fragrance.

Sahar74 - Paul Smith Rose can not be a "copy of" Jean Arthes, which was created several years after Rose.

danygurl06

This is roses + plus the smell of one of those shower to shower body powders. It’s so powdery on my skin. I will say that I notice that most fragrances I’ve tried with tea listed as an ingredient on Fragrantica has smelled powdery on my skin instead of tea-like.

It has a nice projection and strength for several hours. It has a fresh and clean smell. On my skin, this fragrance is far from smelling unisex. It legitimately smells like a woman just powdered herself before going to bed.

elledeelee

Just realised I have never reviewed this perfume which is shocking to me since it's an all time favourite! I think I've been wearing it ever since it first launched and it is my absolute ride or die perfect rose. Other than being a beautiful true natural pink rose it has a slight green quality which I prefer over the citrus notes that a rose is often mixed with. It's perfect for daytime wear. I love this one to bits and could never see myself being without it.

Peeka

This fragrance is like eating Parma violet sweets, in a rose garden on a crisp day, while wearing freshly laundered clothes. It’s a pretty, happy rose scent that isn’t overpowering at all. Very appealing to my nose & my pocket too!

Not sure if there are different versions as some have stated but for reference, I have a bottle created in 2018.

I have read that this has now been “discontinued”?? Whether that means the shop that said this is just no longer selling it or not, I don’t know. See Wilko.com. It is still readily available though, I even found this for sale in Boots (notes are listed differently).

About a month ago, I became completely obsessed with the rose note.

I've always hated this note because it was so poorly done in every rose perfume I smelled.

I purchased a sample of a niche rose perfume that made me fall madly in love with the note, but the full flanker (just like the sample vials) is quite pricy.

So I was on the hunt for reasonably priced rose fragrances to tide me over while I save up for the niche rose.

Paul Smith's "Rose" is such a beautiful fragrance, especially on the dry-down.

It packs quite a punch when you first spray it on and leaves a trail. That's the cedar working with the rose. I walked out of the room and when I came back I could still smell the delicate, pretty rose scent. The magnolia is more noticeable in the dry-down.

It settles fairly quickly and sits close to the skin. A respray is required before the end of the day because longevity is not great. It lasted longer when I sprayed it on my top.

This is overall an inoffensive, pretty, clean everyday fragrance. There's no need to use a heavy hand with it, because rose being rose, too much of it may offend some people. Unless you dislike/don't have experience with the rose note, it's a safe blind-buy.

p.s., I just received a flanker of Yardley's English Rose. These two smell quite similar and I can't decide which I love more.

Why is nobody comparing this absolute beauty to MFK A la rose? I feel like it is hushed and somebody will come at night and terminate you if you say something. Well, I feel the need to speak up. I've tested them side by side on skin, this one, yes it's more soapy and more sharp, MFK is more rounded and refined, but if you put somebody to compare them side by side, the first second they would bet it's the same, the nuances need a bit more time to be picked up.
MFK lasts an hour, hour and a half more on skin as a skin scent compared to PS.
Now to review it, PS is a rose that wouldn't offend rose haters, it could be an introductory rose. It's clean, soapy, transparent, refreshing, calming, slightly powdery and more importantly: dainty. It doesn't have lasting power, but if you spray behind your ears and clothes it will stay there for others to smell, and on your wrists stays a few hours as a skin scent for you to smell.
It took me a few times testing it to find it absolutely breathtaking, at first it was an ok, but it's a grower.
I've applied from a dabber, I'll be back to slap myself silly if the spray doesn't match the dab.
PS: I have to agree with jacksparrow_1700 about it being bright, slightly musky and expensive smelling!
PPS: It sweetens up on skin after a while.

jacksparrow_1700

This is a beautiful perfume. I’ve been trying to find a rose scent that suits me. Most of those that I’ve tried are too mature or overpowering but this one isn’t at all. Paul Smith Rose is a bright and slightly sweet and boozy rose. The green tea and magnolia lend a little fruitiness, there is musk but it’s not too heavily like I was expecting. More than a skin scent but not too strong either, you can wear it on its own or layered. I would say moderate longevity and projection. It smells way more expensive than it is.

CherriedEmpress

First impression of Paul Smith Rose: wow, this is a stunner! This perfume opens with a burst of newly-bloomed pink rose, green tea, and violet. The rose note is hypnotic. It isn't completely photorealistic — it lacks some headiness and depth of real roses, but it's close enough. More like a 90% true-to-life rose note. (To be honest, I compared this side-by-side with a rose right from my garden.) This perfume is sort of like The Healing Garden's Green Tea spray (remember those?) blended with light pink rose. All in all, a very modern, youthful fragrance.

I've been outside in the June summer weather today, so the drydown of this fragrance started early. The drydown is absolutely gorgeous. It's a slightly powdery musk, with traces of the top notes.

I can see why passerby may think this is a unisex or men's fragrance. The rose note stays close to the skin, while the fresh green tea emanates much farther out. The rose is much more noticeable to the wearer than to other people. It is the first note to fade away, as well. This does not bother me, as I'm personally captivated by this scent from start to finish. (Tip: the rose lasts much longer on clothing than skin).

The longevity and sillage are weak to moderate. It obviously is more noticeable in warm weather, to which I think this perfume is tailored. When it comes to strength, this perfume is not in the same league as Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose, which is basically a nuclear bomb.

I love rose, in both perfumes and in nature. Actually, what brought me to this perfume are my bushes of fuschia and pink roses that have bloomed in the past week. The heat carries their scent all around the yard and it is enchanting. This is a once-a-year experience that renews my fervor for rose.

Paul Smith Rose was $26 USD including tax, from ebay. It smells a lot more expensive than it is. Highly, highly recommended.

Anamandy

I see there are a lot of reformulations of this fragrance. The batch code for my bottle shows that it was produced in 2008, so I can assume I have the original version of this scent and not a later formulation. I didn't go out of my way to look for a first formula, it just happened to be what the seller sent me.

I find it a very pretty, though watery rose more akin to rose water than a perfume, though slightly stronger than that. It smells like the soft scent of roses that permeate the air in the early springtime morning. Very fresh and clean. I get a little bit of green, light citrus notes at the top, and violet and magnolia though they never overwhelm the rose. I don't smell tea as in a typical tea scent though this has the refreshing quality of a tea scent. Dry down it becomes a little musky, though not enough to make the fragrance powdery and has a light hint of cedar.

Silage wise, it works better in the spring and fall as wearing it in the heat of the summer it all but disappeared. Sometimes I need a break from heavier fragrances, but don't want to go sans perfume. This goes far in fulfilling that need. As a casual fragrance I like it a lot.

AuroraFisherman

I have half bottle if someone is interested. PM if interested.

MoonLightDream

This is a soft, herbaly, mildly citrusy rose perfume. It reminds me of a green tea and rose infusion, that I have drinked.
I love rose perfumes, so for me, this is the perfect fresh rose perfume for the summer.
During winter and autumn I like to wear Roses De Chloe, which for me, is more soapy-laundry kind of rose scent, which makes me feel cozy.

kwanpekyee.1

i smelled it on a friend today and asked why was she wearing a unisex fragrance

Didnt get any rose
The dry down was fairly ozonic, woody, slightly musky
It smelled like a man's cologne

Perhaps it's the humid and warm weather

Rather disappointing.

boutique1

Very clean rose without any single bit of powder nor sweet. If you are looking for a simple type of rose, this one can be your answer.

pjspaceshit

This could easily be a part of the Hermès "Jardin" line! I get equal amounts of tea, citrus and rose... Great quality for that price :)

FabulouslyLazy

This is an ode to the English rose! On my skin the evolution is from rose-tea to musky rose with a prominent violet note. After a couple of hours it stoftens but lingers leaving a beautiful trail. Too happy to rock this perfume as it suits my personality. I thought I'd simply like it, I love it instead!
---
Less rosey than Red Roses by Jo Malone (which is the Holy Grail of rose lovers) and rather close to Roses de Chloe, even though this latter is a little bit fruitier.

Kaleidosaur

I don't really get this one. Smells like Elizabeth Arden Green Tea spiked with a very synthetic rose. Makes me sneeze! I don't get the musk note, which I had really hoped for.

babyrose1985

Gorgeous, this is an absolute beauty, one of my few favourite perfumes overall and I've tried ALOT. A simple rose violet combo with added green tea, it isnt very powdery to me, it smells like a very expensive, luxurious, high class, personalised, everso classy scented fabric softener. I much prefer this to every other rose perfume that I have tried by far including Chloe roses.

When I first tried this and checked the price I was so so shocked and happy that it was so reasonably priced aswell, this is the perfect spring scent. I occasionally even spray this on my clothes to freshen them up and the scent lasts absolutely ages, I get wafts of it all day and it's just so feminine and beautiful, it is addictive 💓💓

dvlcis

Lovely- pure, but with a solid fairytale-ey woody base. Spray lightly, you'd be suprised by how strong it is. You don't expect that, seeing the dainty bottle and the light pink liquid. All great, great price, great everything. Just hope they don't discontinue it.

much, much better than all the chloe roses

Syrupsplash

I went on a mission to find a true to life rose frgrance, not just a note but a main event type rose, and stumbled on this. I ended up getting Tea Rose by The Perfume Workshop, Rose by Paul Smith, and Les Infusions de Prada Rose, each from various price points.

PW Tea Rose is by far my favorite, BUT the power of that scent should not be underestimated! I read the reviews that said how strong that was and i doubted it and gave myself 3 good sprays to test it out and OMG its crazy too much!! I have never gotten a headache from perfume before until that scent! EDT? It isnt even more like a EDP and i would put this up there with straight parfume its so strong.
The actual scent is vibrant rose bush, juicy and succulent with a good amount of wood. Its absolutely beautiful....in very small doses xD.

I also really loved the Paul Smith Rose, in comparison, i would say this one is less juicy and woody and more powdery, delicate, smokey and soft but also has decent sillage, not near as much but very decent.

Les Infusions de Prada Rose was the most expensive and the biggest disappointment. It is more similar to Paul Smith Rose with a little more complexity and a more musk scent, but i dont think it lasted more than an hour or two and had almost no silage.

If you are looking for straight up rose like I was, all 3 were a safe blind buy, but I am thinking Paul Smith Rose was the best middle ground, though i like PW Tea Rose better, it wont be as easy to wear. Prada Rose Infusion was a waste of money.

mattachin

Insipid, watery rose, nevertheless intrusive. Depressing.

Mycoleman2800

I love rose fragrances, I love Chloe de Roses and Stella. But of course you know you can't wear Stella in the Summer. I live where it is hot and very humid. I read the reviews here and took a chance and blind bought this. This is an absolute love for me! I'm so glad I took a chance on this. This is a very fresh rose fragrance. This is not your grandmother's rose that's for sure. If you have the body chemistry to pull a rose fragrance off then you should definitely try this. The first spray is a loud blast of fresh roses. I would not spray this in the car and walk straight into the office. This is one you definitely have to let die down. But the dry down is the best soft powdery rose I have ever smelled. But at the same time it's a very clean rose. This isn't sweet or cloying. I'm not a huge fanof sweet fragrances. I like very clean fragrances like Versace Versense or Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline. I'm so not disappointed with this fragrance.

I just want to thank the people who review fragrances so that I get a real idea in my head of what a fragrance is truly going to smell like. Sometimes I limit myself because I don't like vanilla or patchouli. But I have picked fragrances based off of the reviews that have both vanilla and patchouli and I really ended up liking it which was surprising (Vince Camuto Femme). So to all those beautiful noses out there keep sniffing and writing spot on reviews. I really appreciate it.

P1034811

The one scent that consistently gets me compliments from men AND women, everywhere (and I do mean every. where.) I go. And for how accessible it is I am surprised not more people wear this!

It is a delicate but full pink garden rose still on the bush, glistening with raindrops. Not the kind of rose you'd find in a florist's or even a bouquet, mind you, but the kind with the dense ruffly petals and heavy flowerheads only your green-thumbed grandmother could grow, climbing up the walls of her house.

What makes it special is there is no musk, powder, spice, soap, fruit, or peony––which seems to be the combination put forth by every other brand. Even the included violet and magnolia are largely inperceptible. Beyond the rose itself, there is only that dewy green freshness from the green tea (but the tea notes are not strong at all either).

As a bonus, the bottle is very elegant and understated; certainly one of my favourite designs and very fitting for the juice it holds.

All in all, a very easy fragrance to wear to any day-time activity, or a casual first date. Moderate sillage but good longevity (especially on clothes) so quite office-safe as well.

Praying they never discontinue this!

sandifitzg

Pure love for me. Fresh and modern tea rose with great projection and lasting power. Not at all harsh but just a full blooming lushness...heaven in a bottle....swoon.

Konga5000

In the War of the Cheapie Roses:
This is better than Tea Rose by Perfumer's Workshop and Yeardley's Rose fragrance, merely because it's a bit more complex. Worth the low price for sure; But don't expect Jo Malone's Red Roses by any means......

Worth a blind buy, but it may turn into a "room , car, bathroom freshener" one day.
But I do like it, if that makes any sense.

taureanrage69

One of my favorite rose perfumes, beautiful for the price especially. A perfume that's well-behaved but not mumsy. Not at all a citrusy perfume, if you're looking for a break from that. It starts off a very cool, crisp and green rose; I greatly enjoy the opening of this perfume, more so than many others I have. After about half an hour I become aware of a lovely soft floral, which continues on to an equally soft musky woody drydown. This perfume seems more cool/silver than gold/warm to me, the kind of perfume that makes you think of a cool summer morning when the roses are still covered with dew.

Alces Alces

Lots of violet in this one. Of course it is mostly rose, but definitely a violet undertone. Love the combination of rose and violet.

Impossible to overspray. I sprayed three sprays (huge amount for me), and it was still extremely light.

Paul Smith's Rose is a timeless classic rose. Reminds me of Rose Milk lotion that ladies used back in the day. Probably my favorite light rose.

apple1386

Being Alright with rose scent, I thought I knew what to expect. This took me by surprise at first spitz, in a very pleasant way. Like what others have mentioned, it is sweet and fresh. The tea note gave it a slight twist to its advantage and it balances the sweetness of the rose note. Just lovely.

Emera1d

I am not normally into perfumes that have rose as a main note and I was hoping that buying this will help me understand rose perfumes if not love them. It is safe to say its nice sweet and fresh, not too much not too little. Simple and inoffensive, I would imagine it to be safe for the office.
It didn't make me fall in love with roses, but it's ok since my fiancee pinched it and loves it. It worked out in the end, but I know for sure not to keep chasing the roses, it's just not for me.

lissanarak

I dont like it because it gives me metallic taste..but sometimes I kinda like it for some reason.this is one of those perfumes that I can only wear occasionaly. It smells like green rose.

yuliannart

There is really nothing to not like about this perfume, unless you don’t like roses. It is not too sharp, not too sweet, not too strong and not weak. Just a nice fresh rose. It dries down to light musk on my skin, and musk is my pet peeve. So, I spray on my clothes and hair to solve that slight issue. It is perfect for hot summers. Stays fresh all day long with even 1-2 squirts. A safe blind buy.

Reine_des_Neiges

I love the opening in this. A fresh, crisp rose, completely realistic. No sweetness, no artificial perfume, just a fresh, green rose, complete with stem and leaves.

In the drydown however it turns into a bar of soap on my skin. I'm really jealous of all the people who get to hold on to that green freshness, but unfortunately I don't. So let that be a lesson to everyone: test this on skin first.

I have a lingering suspicion that my skin chemistry simply does this to rose scents. 'Florabotanica' acts much in the same way on my skin. I own both organic rose water and rose absolute oil and both get that slightly soapy quality on my skin over time, though the scent of those is too fleeting to make it very noticeable.

However it does follow that I probably just don't have the right chemistry for roses. Such a pity, because I love them.

But to anyone with the right chemistry: this is gorgeous, it doesn't get more rose-y than this, without it ever going into a 'perfume'-direction. Longevity and projection are far, far better than a scent in this price category should possess.

gtabasso

very similar to Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose; this is a sweet, green true tea rose but not quite as powerful with projection as PW. Lovely rose fragrance.

Mbrock

This is what I consider my ideal rose scent, as far as the way it smells. A lot of "rose" perfumes dont have enough rose for me & some just arent the type of rose scent i want. This is exactly what I want. That being said, The longevity is not good. I had maybe 3 hours before it just became a skin scent. & I wont rebuy a perfume I feel like I cant at least get 4 hours out of.
I think im going to have to go back to layering Perfume workshop Tea Rose with Vera wang vanilla & rose buds to get the scent & staying power i want.

just28

I blind-bought this perfume, looking for a realistic rose smell but a little bit fresher than Chloe Roses (which I love!).

What you get is really a true, beautiful rose but ALSO a lot of green tea. In fact, to me it smells more like a green tea perfume with rose, than a rose with green tea!

At first I felt the green tea was a little bit too much for me. It did have that refreshing effect, giving the rose a more youthful vibe, but it was so strong on me it almost became like a MINT, cold smell.

It's really pleasant and work appropriate, in fact everyday appropriate.

The more I wear it and the more I like it. I can now notice the rose more and the green tea really makes it a refreshing fragrance.

I can't wait for summer to wear this at work or anywhere really!

So overall it's good if you want a fragrance to wear in any situation, it is feminine and classy but also very simple and light.

Oh and also 2 sprays last me all day without being too much.

Becw08

Pleasant rose scent
Not much more to say
Quite linear
Doesnt really develop

Lilacs&Lavender

Lovely and bright. As soon as I wore it though, I thought it must have virtually identical notes to Yardley's contemporary edition of English Roses, and I was correct. Not identical, but close enough to be fraternal twins. Though Paul Smith Rose doesn't appear to have the citrus in the top notes as English Roses does, the tea is so prominent that I really can't tell the difference between the two in the first 30 minutes. After an hour, the ozone is discernible in Paul Smith, but overall when my two bottles run out, I'll save my hard earned by purchasing a larger bottle of the Yardley. That's not to take anything away from the beauty of Paul Smith Roses. More a statement that English Roses, and Yardley fragrances in general, are underrated and great value for money.

aura_therapy

Hhhmmph. I'm stumped on this one. I got it in the mail yesterday after wanting it for over a year but never seeing it in my area to test. It is a nice fizzy rose at first spray but then there is a laundry detergent or clean note that shows up. Maybe it is the tea? Musk? I expected fresh, but not this artificial detergent smell. It brings to my mind a note or the vibe in Clinique Happy Heart. I have a bottle of rosewater from my local health food store that I use in my hair and this smells nothing like that. I don't understand the comparison in so many reviews. It's not what I thought it would be and I can't picture myself wearing it because I only enjoy the opening.

Update a month later: I have tried several times, the opening and mid are so beautiful and fresh that it fools me into thinking “this time will be different”. But nope, the drydown continues to be a synthetic mess. So, so disappointing.

Nikkafragrance

I was raving about Rose for such a long time and finally when I saw a 100 ml on incredible discount, I grabbed it with the speed of light, but what was my disappointment when I sniffed it for a first time. It was a blind buy and since I am a huge rose lover, I didn't expect anything could go wrong. First impression was plain rose water, then it turned into something very citrusy, I swear I smell bergamot. I can not detect the magnolia at all, I was hoping that fragrance would be more floral, but it's very fresh, musky and even sharp. Inoffensive, save, perfect for summer I guess, but that's it. No sophistication or romantic vibe for me. I was almost sure that I will fall in love judging by the notes, but sorry it's not my thing.
Edit: Now I realized that my biggest problem with this perfume is the green tea. My skin tends to amplify that note and turns every fragrance with it, into a men's cologne. That"s why Green Tea smells horrible on me. So sad.

danapink238

I love to wear this perfume on summer, it is very fresh and classic with a very natural rose smell as if I entered a garden.

soniaashwini2391

I don't usually wear perfume because everytime I use it, I get headache. This perfume does not give me headache, instead , it told me a story; a soft, romantic, classy and elegant women.
I'm from Malaysia, by the way, and apparently Paul Smith will be closing down soon! I really really hope this perfume stays. I'm definitely purchasing this perfume again.

Eicher

Adorable. Fresh, green-rose perfume. Not too sweet, soft and clean frag. Best blind buy ever. Suites to all ages, all environment (working, casual, party...). You "just" feel and smell nice with it. Lovely. Really it is.

manigark

I LOVE the smell of this perfume. It has been my go to my many years. However, the sillage is not very strong on me and the perfume also lasts only a fleeting moment. It seems to project better for others, just not me... So, I'm searching for something that is a bit stronger and longer lasting on my skin.

njn

Paul Smith Rose is fantastic! It was a blind buy and I was so happy to sniff it for the first time that it made me giggle. I love the fresh rose and tea aroma with some violet sweetness. It's just what I have been after, the perfect tea scent for me.

kati77

Cool, fresh / rose.
But fresh, because it blends with fresh flowers, not meadow or sea climates. It smells like a traditional rose freshly broken and arranged in a bouquet and there are still drops of dew.
There is a delicate rose candy, with a mildly aromatic tea background, there is no gravity, no change, no overloading what the perfume with the roses in the lead often happens.
This is a super nice rose fragrance and does not make grandma associations nor old porcelain or pearls etc ...
I would recommend to try it.

Justapixel

A blind buy for me, based on reviews here. I adore rose and am in search of the perfect rose scent, and I take the reviews here seriously.

Today, my bottle arrived and I eagerly opened it. The clear juice, the plain bottle, the large size and the inexpensive price, all made me forget I was spraying an EDP rather than EDC. Can one overdo this light fragrance? It would seem so. I am one who initially steps into the mist of a stronger fragrance and lightly touch to the wrist rather than wildly spray. This perfume fooled me -and I wildly sprayed.

At first, due to heavy application, I was disappointed. I smelled mostly tea and not rose. And because I'd gone crazy, treating it like splash cologne rather than a perfume, it was almost headache-inducing and mediciney. However, now that the initial overspray is calming down, so is the scent, and it is developing into something beautiful.

The quieter it gets, the more I love it. It is now a very pretty rose scent, backed with the cooling fragrance of tea which translates in my brain to a spring rain. For me, wearing this scent is like walking through a rose garden on a rainy day. You carry your umbrella, you can hear your steps crisp across the garden path, and the scent of roses and rain are intoxicating and still fresh. These are silver/lavender roses, peach and cream, not yellow or red. The cooling tea mist enhances the smell of blooming white roses.

It is very lovely. I can't believe it's as inexpensive as it is, for it doesn't smell cheap. Rose perfumes are my favorite of all the florals, but also seem hard to get right., because what other notes match rose well? I think tea may be one. This is very close to perfect: just roses and raindrops. It has been two hours since I oversprayed; it is still going strong, but in a good way. Not close to my skin, I have not lost the scent and I leave a trail of dewdrop sprinkled petals when I walk.

This could well be the rose fragrance I have been looking for:simple, pretty, elegant and lasting. I can see this becoming my go-to fragrance. I'll see how it goes through the day, and I will wear again tomorrow, put on with a lighter hand, and get the truer opening. We'll see if I have any comments when I'm with with friends tomorrow.

meliecat

Not really a pro when it comes to rosy fragrances, although I did own a bottle or two YSL Paris but this is a different story. A lot of my perfumes do have rose notes in them though, so I`m not totally impartial..
I tried this the other day as for years and years just ignored it in Boots, and I must say easily the nicest and best value fragrance in the whole sale section! I was keep sniffing at it later and what I found was a gentle, simple rose, with a bit of green tea or rose leaves in the drydown, very simple and clean, without any sour or bitter undertones or granny-type soapiness, I didn`t really discover any other notes than these two. It didn`t last too long though, but that`s just more proof how gentle the scent is..

linnaea.marie.andelman

I don't own this one, but have been looking for a rose/peony scent that is light, delicate, unpretentious, not too sweet, and with only the slightest hint of that watery, green, freshness.

Approaching what I'm looking for are RL Romance, YSL Parisienne, EL Pleasures, B&BW Peony....and closest of all, Body Shop's Rose Sauvage (Wild Rose) hand cream.

While I like scents like the old and new Chloes, there is something too sharp, serious, and heavy about them.

Anyway, for a final push to convince me to buy, I decided to check the reviews here. So many great descriptions, however the one that 100% rang true for me is the post from MissGabrielleO, who offers the comparison of PSR smelling the way John Singer Sargent's 1885 painting 'Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose'looks (if the feelingsbthe painting evokes could be translated into an olfactory experience-).
That made perfect sense to me, and is EXACTLY the scent I'm after. I will post an update once I've actually bought and worn it:)

MrsTefee

ahhh this is beautiful! Im so glad I finally bought this! I had it on my want list for ages and finally decided to go for it. Trying to expand my wardrobe with all different types of frags and I needed something more floral and rosey for summer but without being aquatic (aquatic scents give me headaches) Paul smith rose is actually beautiful! Its the perfect fresh rose smell, no mustyness, no powder, just fresh roses! The green tea is noticable but it doesnt take over the rose at all, it brings a nice coolness to the fragrance so the rose doesnt become musty..

I love it! Its going to be amazing for summer!! Cant wait to use it : )

I actually really like the bottle design as well and mine came in a little flowery satchet inside the box, so cute! Well done paul smith please dont ever discontinue this one!!

This was the first perfume I bought after a period of my teenage years in which I just didn't want to wear any. I just walked into my local drugstore, smelled this and promptly fell in love with it.

I just got so attached to it so quickly, partly because it reminds me of the scents of my past and my happiest times. It feels like an extension of myself, if I may be so cheesy. This perfume, to me, really does smell like rose, and I can also detect the green tea and the base notes. (And probably the other flowers too, I just don't know how violet and magnolia is supposed to smell like.) It smells very natural, as if you literally just took a rose and smeared it onto your skin. You can barely even smell that telltale chemical-ish "perfume" scent that almost all perfumes tend to have. My family has always been very engaged in nature, being scouts and taking walks in the woods and vacations on the countryside, and the smell of this just immediately takes me away from the city and puts me in the middle of a rose garden, back into nature which I guess feels like home to me.

Smelling this fragrance reminds me of sitting in a dewy rose garden full of flowers in spring, in the cool morning, after a night of rain. The scent is so crisp, natural and light. It's calming, in a way. It calms you right down like a breath of fresh air after spending hours in a crowded place. I would describe it as... Innocent and refreshing, just about as natural as can be, as opposed to sexy or flirty or sweet etc. like most other women's perfumes pride themselves in being. It's like rosewater. I feel like even a child could wear this in theory, because there is nothing suggestive about this scent. It's mainly just the soft scent of a fresh, green-ish rose.

For some reason I can't really determine how long it lasts on my skin... I'll apply it and then not be able to smell it at all like 5 minutes later, but my mum can smell it even after several hours has passed. I do think I have to reapply it throughout the day, sometime during the afternoon. The scent is pretty mild too, as you'd have to get very close to me to be able to smell it. But I find that it is worth it. I really can't imagine choosing any other scent over this. Besides, I actually prefer perfumes to be subtle and intimate, rather than loud and strong enough to suffocate everyone within a 5 foot radius from you. I do prefer it when people have to get close to you in order to smell you.
The tragic downfall of all this glory is that while I love this scent, it doesn't seem to blend very well with my skin, in terms of smell? I find that when I'm wearing it, it smells a lot more powdery and less floral and fresh than it does in the bottle. So I don't really wear it anymore. But it doesn't change the fact that I love this, so I might just continue using it as a room spray or something.

I could go on and on, but I'd probably just be talking in circles. I just really, really, really love this perfume, and I can only recommend it.

Astrogenie

I love this fragrance. It smells like an English summer garden full of roses. It has moderate strength and subtle silage but I can catch a waft of it on the breeze even after I thought it had worn off. I think it is a perfect rose fragrance because the green tea stops it from smelling soapy and dull. Instead it sparkles brightly and I am quite addicted to it. It is perfect for summer and I find it a cheerful and uplifting fragrance.

chlorodream

Oh this is my favourite rose-scent to date.
Endlessly classy, lightened with slight greenness, feminine and calming.

It's very rose and green-tea and not much else. But what else could you want? It's so British, so very very Paul Smith. The perfect scent to wear on a date, since it's got a romantic feel.

I wear it when I want to feel special.

Sillage - not much more than an arm's length, which I think suits the romantic nature of the fragrance.
Longevity - 4-5 hours on skin, much longer on clothing.

Winter Sweet

I expected a lot from this one but it did not fulfill my expectations. The rose magnolia combination reigns and is accompanied by a touch of violet after some time.It is by no means a flower shop scent and nothing unique about it. No fresh greenness here.

Estasia

Soapy chemical rose, nothing else than fake cheap rose, it reminds of old auntie's chest of drawers. I can't explain all these positive reviews. Please, try before you buy.

Paul Smith Rose is smell of real roses with quite big amount of smell of green leaves . If you close your eyes , you can image youself sitting on the bunch by the big delightful bush of roses. It is very powerful perfume of big roses bush for people who really love roses perfume or for right mood , right clothes and right occasions . Like for me , it is best from collection of rose perfume made . It is very powerful and very long lasting parfume for whole day and longer. Like for me It is the best perfume from Paule Smith collection too.

I tried Paul Smith Rose, because I thought that maybe I was mistaken to discard perfumes with rose as a main note in the past. After all, rose is the queen of flowers, a symbol of love, femininity and elegance. Well... I wasn't. The fragrance is womanly indeed, and although I can detect some other notes that make it richer, it still reminds me of rose water. It will be a perfect fragrance for rose lovers - nice fresh rose.

shauna.parra

Beautiful rose with a little bit of an Oriental side. It has green tea and it's very detectable, aromatic, green, herbal rose. There's a bit of a bitter green aspect like drinking rosewater actually mixing tea and rosewater. The violet stands out and the dry down is musk and woods. Not complicated and very classy, not luxurious but simple and effective as a perfume to wear in the day or night. I think it's on the mature side but we have to grow up sometime. Love roses.

Bottledbull

I'm reviewing this from a male point of view..wow this is a gorgeous rose scent that has transformed my opinion of rose fragrances from granny's bathroom ..it's like smelling a bunch of roses with great longivity and simplicity ..gorgeous little violet twist also..I get the tea note which gives it a wonderfully grounded appeal ..I love parma violet sweets ..I don't think it needs over spraying either as this seems like a less is more type. Roses and tea with parma violets ..everything is pointing towards granny's enjoying pots of tea but somehow it's extremely modern and traditional which is a very fashionable moment we are in ..men's fragrances are all about oud and pipe tobacco in contrast but the same vibe.

Passionflower

I bought this fragrance in a sale, because the first thing you smell is convincingly similar to the scent of roses. It's exactly like sticking your nose into a big bunch of them, which is lovely. When it dries down, however, it becomes more and more fresh, and I'm dissapointed to say, more like the rose-spray I use as a toilet refreshener. Of course, I do not want to smell like that! Maybe it's the combination with my skin that makes this fragrance smell cheap, or maybe my toilet refreshener is a better fragrance than other toiletsprays! I'm afraid that's what I'll use Rose by Paul Smith for though. Or to add some scent to love letters. I don't think I'll wear it again. Such a shame for something which seems so promising at first.

pastel black

Got it in discount price for spring use. Liked this scent until I realized it was the same scent that a lady working on the same floor wears... she keeps reapplying it throughout the whole day and year.
The opening is light, like white-pink rose with a tealike nuance which I find refreshing. Perhaps that's what the the lady keeps reapplying for... understandable.

HOWEVER, when applied too many times too soon, the top notes get mixed up with the drydown. The musky presence is very strong in hot humid weather( literally fills the hallway). And the musk keeps piling up every time you reapply...The fresh top & middle notes start losing against it and the scent itself turns into something that reminds me of scented detergent. My nose isn't educated enough to describe this specific scent, but I'm totally stuck with that olfactory image...I really wish I could come back with a fresh nose!!

This is just an extreme example I guess...

Overall I think of Paul Smith Rose as an introverted, gentle and delicate scent.
It needs to be treated kindly and not be used as any sort of deodorant.
(Isn't that how perfumes are supposed to be handled?)

Try to imagine it´s a hot summer day. You´re visiting your grandmother, and goes for a walk in her garden, that has a lot of old rose bushes. You close your eyes a take a deep breath, and feel the sweet smell of old-fashioned roses.

That´s what this lovely parfume smells like.

MissGabrielleO

This is perhaps the best value perfume that I own, truly. I bought this in a dutyfree store way back in 2009, flush with the thrill of being on my first business trip with my first grownup job with my first real paychecks. This is the scent that got me hooked on fresh rose and the scent that I believe most people associate with me since it's the one I tend to wear during the day, most days.

It is a light pink rose, tender, feminine and youthful, balanced by gorgeous green notes. The greenery keeps it from being overwhelmingly rosy for those that hate rose fragrances. It smells so true to life, sometimes I think I'm walking in an English garden. Apparently Paul Smith had this rose created for his wife so the added romanticism of the perfume makes it appealing!

Though sillage isn't loud, it lingers in a very pleasant way long after you've left a room, and for something so light and inexpensive has great longevity - I can smell it on my skin and clothes 5+ hours after spraying it. I do like to bring a small purse spray of this when I wear it during the day so that I may refresh it, particularly as the first whiff of this is so particularly beautiful. This is a joyful spring fragrance that is easy to wear - and at $30 or so for 3.4oz, it is an absolute steal. I go through at least a bottle of this a year!

NDLR: This fragrance smells almost exactly like Sargent's painting "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose" looks. Look it up! :)

logicmuppet

I like this quite a lot, so please don't think this is a negative review.

This should be named "Paul Smith Violet." It has the sweet, candy-like aroma of violets that is in something like the initial phase of "Nannette Lepore." If you are afraid of the green stuff (ahem, PW Tea Rose), then don't be... there is a pinch of tea just to keep things from going completely into diabetic shock right off the bat, but it is far from aggressively green. Five or six good sprays, including two on my legs, and I smell like fresh, sweet flowers.

It is not until several hours into wearing that the roses come out. By then, the violet has worn off a lot, and just hangs around to sweeten the red roses. No citrus or patchouli jumping in to interfere. I get a little musk at this point, and just a hint of cedar. I am surprised by how long it lasts. Application at 7:00 am is still noticeable at 7:00 pm, and is still recognizable the next morning. It doesn't seem to have much sillage, but the jury is still out there.

This is "cute" without being cloying, and "clean" without being too zingy. I think it's suitable for wearing just about anywhere.

EDIT: May 25. Whoa. I have gotten so many people stopping me to ask what I am wearing because it smells so pretty. I put it on in the morning before I go to work, and they are still asking in the afternoon.

EllenD1991

Bought this yesterday after eyeing it up in Superdrug for a while. Chose the best day to get it aswell as it was half price with an extra 20% off on top! So it cost just under £22 for 100ml.

This is a very fresh green rosey scent. When sprayed on there is no mistaking this is primarily a rose scent. To me, it doesn't smell as old lady-ish as most floral/rose perfumes. It smells like it could be worn by a young girl all the way up to an older woman. I am 24 and I think its lovely - a perfect daytime and spring/summer fragrance. This is a total contrast compared to my usual perfume purchases and my collection. Never go for green fragrances usually but this one is truly gorgeous. It is a simple yet sophisticated rose floral with hints of tea.

Longevity on my skin isn't that impressive, just a few ours. Sillage is however as I can smell it around my desk at work when I get back to it after a coffee break!

The packaging is pretty but the bottle is very plain. I think in a way though it suits the perfume. I was pleasantly surprised by the pretty rose patterned bag the bottle came in though!

All in all a new favourite for me and a perfect scent for day to day wear.

RobKY

try to get your hands on this fragrance if you are a rose fan at all! it is nicely blended with magnolia, green tea and light musk/cedar so easily gender-free and delicious... very well blended and natural smelling. The rose comes off bright and refreshing, not overly sweet, dark or dated. Smells 90% similar to Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit for only $22 large tester bottle on ebay. Perfect for spring and summer

123velvetrose

A lovely fresh pure rose. I imagingine rain drops dripping of the petals. A little citrus keeps it fresh but sometimes a bit too sharp. Alot like chloe de roses but sharper. A really great one for the price.

Soofiya

I love this one, more than anyone can imagine,it is my pure, romantic rosey love!
Clear, innocent, pure, bright, fresh, delicate, deep, calm, silky rose scent, there is nothing syntethic here, nothing old fashioned and old ladyish, nothing dry or cloying, this is just the real scent if real rose, just tha same scent you can detect from a bush of red, garden roses, fresh and rain washed, with the greenness of leaves(grean tea note),a hint of aquatic vibe(not an aquatic scent,I just mention pure drops of rain on red roses),and finally it dries down to a gentle woodsy cedar and green tea combo, which has a unisex vibe, all of this makes an unblievably realistic rose, bright,a bit sweet, refreshing and easy to die for, magnolia, musk and violet have very faded role here, magnolia provides a floral creaminess and musk and powder make this clean and a bit powdery
Paul smith rose is perfect for daytime use also great for layering, this can add a real, rose note, ofcourse a bit green and woodsy and wet one,to any other fragrance you wish
It stays 4-5 hours on me,with soft sillage,a good feature for a rosey scent in order not to be overpowering and offensive for others

This is a very light aqueous rose (as opposed to powdery), very refreshing, pretty & inoffensive. Like Rose Water except without that dewy powdery quality, it has more white floral aquatic sweetness to it with some zesty fresh tea. It's a solid like for me. Rose is a touchy subject with me, I often find it nauseating but this is a very pleasant tolerable rendition of rose that has quite a bit of aquatic white floral. Very nice, think Chloé meets Pleasures, without the softness of Chloé or the bitterness of Pleasures, but the same sheer floral vibe. This would make a safe gift, you may love it, but it is possible to be bored by this one. I appreciate much stronger scents, but I can imagine wearing this on a day where I am feeling a bit sensitive and want something pretty and gentle to keep me fresh. I didn't think the sillage was great but I do get whiffs from it every now and then so it must be doing what it is supposed to. I would say sillage and longevity is soft to moderate. Wouldn't mind this as a gift, but I won't go out of my way to buy it.

Overall, classy, pretty fragrance for casual or work wear, can imagine this being someone's signature too, it would make a good intimate, familiar, 'this is me' sort of scent for someone. Give it a try! You never know it could be the one :)

Paul Smith Rose is just amazing. If you are looking for a perfect rose and green tea fragrance look no further. And for the price! 100 ml for less than $30. It makes me wonder why other perfumes are so damn expensive.

The rose here is relatively clear, a bit sweet, a little woody with cedar, and opens up with a bit of citrus over it. The tea note joins in soon after, and that's what the perfume smells like in the heart--a bright rose with a citrus green tea note, with just a hint of an aquatic note. Normally I hate aquatic note, but this comes off as more rainwashed instead of ozonic. The base on me is mostly musk, cedar, green notes, and tea, with only a hint remaining of the rose, which is fine, because admittedly rose can become cloying after awhile.

This lasts on me a decent 5 to 6 hours. I like this much more than the classic Tea Rose, which smells lovely but it is so blindingly focused on the rose that I can't wear it. It is also similar to DK Drop of Rose, so if you already have that one, it may not be worth getting both. But I think that this perfume is so well made that if you're into bright, fresh rose perfumes this is good to go. And it's so cheap!!!

goldie757

I've I been searching for a rose scent that does not scream "old lady", this is exactly want I was looking for. This is a very realistic rose scent and I find the green tea refreshing ,but is sharp for the first 5 minutes.

This is a very green scent, so it you don't like green scents I recommend you should stay far from this one.

This was a pleasant surprise because I cannot bear other Paul Smith perfumes.

I just love everything about this perfume...the name, the design of the bottle and of course the perfume itself. It is a beautiful, elegant sweet rose. It reminds me of summer when I was a child, my uncle used to maintain the gardens of this huge posh ( to me anyway ) country house that had beautiful gardens that seemed to go on forever and sometimes he would take me with him :) They had orchards with apple and pear tree's, herb gardens filled with rosemary and thyme etc...and a rose garden filled with so many different roses....the smell was like heaven. The pink ones where my favorites. One time a lady ( who must of lived there) came out to me with a blanket a glass of lemonade and a plastic bottle half filled with water and asked if I was bored and would I like to make some perfume. I was a 8 year old girl who already loved perfume...so stupid question :) It was very warm bright summers day and I remember i could hear the faint and constant hum of a lawn mower somewhere in the distance, probably my uncle. The smell of freshly cut grass mingled with the soft sweet rose petals that had been warmed by the sun....I will never forget that smell....it is the true smell of a summers day for me. I collected what seemed like 100's of rose petals that afternoon and pushed them all into the bottle one by one then shook the bottle until my arms felt like they would drop off! Sad to say that my perfume turned brown and vinegary and had to be binned a few days later :( I am in no way comparing my concoction with Paul Smith's Rose lol...not at all. But whenever I spray Paul Smith Rose it takes me right back to that day, sitting on that blanket in the center of a rose garden on a glorious summers day and I can almost feel the sunshine on my face.....its beautiful and the truest rose perfume I have ever smelled.
This is a very soft, fresh and delicate rose scent, ultra feminine and innocent smelling. Longevity is ok, around 3-4 hrs on my skin, a little longer on clothes. Silage is soft but this is a soft innocent rose fragrance so I totally expected it to be. I love it :)

wind83

this is fresh rose, very hard to find here. and very rosey, fresh, light. price is well, and very good to wear day and night too.

7.5/10

rosyskirt

The scent reminds me the rose herbal tea at the beginning, and then moving on normal scent rose, the tone is sweet, pure and innocent.

mrsg34

This is a fantastic rose scent as a fantastic price, it's fresh and light with a little "zing" to it which I'm presuming is the tea note? Very wearable throughout the day into the evening, no must, not overpowering just a true, fresh rose

Mooniq

A very fresh crisp dewey Rose with some Violet, Magnolia, Tea and Musk. Longlasting on my skin. Timeless - both a teenager or a woman will smell fantaboulous in PS Rose.

En krispig daggfräsch lite söt Ros men en gnutta Viol, Magnolia, Te och Musk. Väldigt hållbar på min hud. tidlös - både tonåringen och kvinnan doftar härligt med PS Rose. Väl värd sin plats på hyllan

ShiraJemJem

This is very nice rose scent; pure, fresh, clean and young.
It doesn't gimme the 'WOW' feeling but it's very pleasant. I can enjoy wearing it in the good-mood/relaxing day.

The lasting power is incredible. It's over 8 hours on my skin. Light scent but strong lasting power. Very impressive.

If you want perfume that has pure rose scent like rosebud, I sure this is what you're looking for. :D

DMS162002

This is the epitome of fresh wet pink roses to me. There is a subtle greenness of leaves and stems that really comes through as well. Gorgeous on its own and amazing as a layering scent. I've layered it with everything from other greens and florals to spicy oudhs. Love love love it!

katuliena

This is the only fragrance that I could wear anytime. It is absolutely beautiful, sparkly, fresh juice. So uplifting. I love roses, but many rose fragrances smells "old ladyish" and this is the exception. Love it so much. I thing that I couldnt get tired of this

Lovesmells

I am so sorry. I meant to place the review here not on the 2012 bottle. But here's the review

A soft, perfect pink rose in bloom. For me, it is not sweet, nor juicy nor dark. It is precious. Think of little girls coming close to a rose and smelling it.
Done well!

The Swedish girl

Another rose scent that smells too green and sharp for my taste. It makes me think of pachouli/moldy house. Or even a pine tree!

Similar to Narciso Rodriguez, and Comme Une Evidence by Yves Rocher (rose, violet, patchouli) to my nose. There must be an unlisted patchouli note here.

It`s TOO realistic, if there is such a thing. I would love to find a powdery/creamy/sweetened/softly spicy rose! Well, the search goes on.

Angeldaisy

a quality rose scent. if you like roses, you should try this.
it is equivalent quality, lasting power and sweetness (though neither are too sweet) to Stella. just different and perhaps, more daytime.
the magnolia compliments, enhances and then pairs up with the rose as it dries down.
the violet rose combo have a whiff of Maitresse (the two are combined there too).
gentle woody base on me with a hint of green tea.
dare i say....i actually prefer it to Stella original EDP....there, i said it. and it is 100 times better than the new Stella EDT.
you can buy this half price at the moment from allbeauty.com. grab a bottle.

cheeky_lollipop

i'm a huge fan of rose scent... not the in your face snythetic rose but the lovely dignified rose fragrances.. and as far as i love my Stella for the evening, i love this PS Rose for the daytime... they are definitely my two most favourite floral scent... i love how the tea note goes so well with the rose note and make it fresher and somehow more calmer... a beautiful scent.!

Emmayunee

I like this rose perfume better than Dolce&Cabbana The one Rose and chloe Rose. I guess bc to me those fragrant feels stuffy and didnt develope much on my skin where P.S Rose treated me much better. Its Rosy, green, fresh, and a little sweet. I love tea in fragrants so yay me!! Very fem, very pretty.

Planet_X

Paul Smith's Rose is a beautiful surprise, I received a generous decant of it as a gift from a friend, as by myself I would never think of buying it or even trying it. Because...of pale looking liquid! Guilty! I always think that pale fragrance smell like water or like scented water or like girly-girl.
Anyway, this Rose is a deep woody-musky rose to me, unisex as well, the tea note is not that prominent at all, but together with very natural rose-aroma I smell a cedar, this combination reminds me of sauna scent, deep smell of hot wood with rose oil. Very good price for such longevity and quality is a bonus as well.

Treslicious

:D:D I HAVE FOUND THE ONE! I had been searching for the perfect rose-scented perfume for a while, then Paul Smith Rose came along and completed my journey. This is the ultimate fresh rose scent. The first whiff smells like taking a deep breath at a freshly bloomed rose after a night of rain, but minus the greenness. It resembles Roses De Chloe, but not as airy. It has a very juicy and sweet note to it that mixes nicely with the rose and gives the scent more body. I think that comes from the magnolia, which is a very sweet flower. The green tea comes out after a few minutes and gives it a crisp element that sets it apart from the Jo Malone Red Roses which gets a little heavy and cloying to me over time. It also resembles the gorgeous dry-down of D&G Rose The One, without the sugary and minty top notes that I dislike.

Needless to say, this is the most well-rounded rose scent I've ever smelled. It's a very simple and basic rose scent that smells like nothing but roses. The lasting power on me is 3 to 4 hours. Not the best but great for a simple scent like this. The sillage is great as I sprayed my room with it and could somehow still smell it on me in the next hour after I had left my house.

If you are interested in complicated rose scents such as Stella by Stella McCartney or Bvlgari Rose Essentielle, this is not for you. If you're into spicy, powdery rose, you should also look away.

This is definitely in my top 3 favorites. I give it 10/10. :D :D

Kshan

This juice is not an "interpretation" of rose; it is full-on, true-to-life rose. The best comparison is a vase full of fresh roses from the florist. It's a simple fragrance, but that's part of its charm. The lack of complexity also makes it excellent for layering.

Fawkey

I love this, my new favourite day time perfume. Fresh & clean, but more interesting than just a rose scent, the green tea gives it a bite. I just wish it lasted longer.

pongwiffy

two notes. Rose and green fresh cut grass, maybe a hint of mint and tiny hint of musk in the base note. nothing else. fantastic but can give a headache.

Eira Sol

Rose definently stays true to is name. Every lover of rose should try this.

On me it starts of a bit powdery, but it disappears into a more sweet/fresh rose after about an hour. Longevity is not bad, and sillage i moderate.

Juliette21

Please PM me if you'd like to trade me Paul Smith Rose for Boyfriend by Kate Walsh. I ordered the perfume from the states, since it isn't available anywhere else and, while I Love the scent - especially the drydown, it's a bit too strong for me for an everyday wear, which is what I'm looking for. Since I live in BC Canada, shipping to another Canadian address isn't a problem for me!

Edit: Full Disclosure - I have only sprayed my Boyfriend perfume twice and keep it in its original box.

katuliena

After a year of using this fragrance, Im still in love. This is really the best rose scent ever. It is hard to find something, which smells like a real fresh rose. This is must have for me

BlueBerrycherry

Lovely rose scent, but it didn't last long on me. Very flowery/rosey scent as its name indicates. It would be a 'fresh' fragrance, good to use in an office, it wouldn't 'offend' anyone. For mornings after showering. For people who like light scents.

lapioggianelpineto1977

very pretty. For some reason brings me memories of Ysl Parisienne, being the PS Rose fresher and airier than Parisienne. A safe blind buy for whoever likes roses/florals.

Pepperflower

A happy and confident rose. Vibrant, fresh, green, and becomes silkier with time. Despite the very plain and muted bottle, this is one of the best, fresh and realistic rose perfumes out there; like smelling a fresh cut bouquet of pink and red roses. Compared to others, Dkny Drop of rose is spicer, The Body Shops rose is more "air freshener" rose with it being more powdery, aquatic. Perfect for daytime, and layering. This is a long lasting fragrance when bought in the EDP form. Wonderfully done!!

Treacherous

This is one of the best rose fragrances out there. I love everything about this fragrance, except for the bottle design and the packaging, which in my opinion is a bit tacky. But the actual scent, is gorgeous. It opens with a fresh burst of zesty rose, that dries down to a beautiful rose scent that is really captivating, fresh and feminine. I always get complimented when I wear this fragrance, it is quite a strong scent, so a little goes a long way. It's got great lasting power and silage too. I also have D&G The One Rose, which I love too, but it is much more delicate than this one. However this one is definitely a strong rose fragrance that is really lovely but still has a freshness about it. It's just a beautiful, well made fragrance.

TimtanEssence

Simple rosie fragrance. I love this scent because it's understated and pretty. Not old lady-ish. Great for day time.

reirenshin

The rosiest in my collection.
Not too overpowering that I love.
Last quite good as I always use light-weight perfums.
Romantic like a bouquet of roses.
Design is too normal. The paper package is simply good, though.

Chilly28r

How do you capture the smell of a rose that has just blossomed?

Ask Paul Smith because he seems to know!

If you have ever walked by a rose bush and inhaled the gentle, dancing scent of budding roses and soft petals, then this perfume captures that essence.

When I first sampled this scent I instantly loved it and had to have it.

Nothing is sweeter than the rose....ahhhh!

:0)

Englishrose4

To me this is a very fresh rose, I get green tea but not to sharp, warm natural rose rose rose, perfect in my opinion!

It lasts really well on me, I refreshed only once at lunchtime and husband could smell it in the evening which I find to be quite rare without a liberally refreshing.

Imagine your skin when you've been in the fresh air all day if you rolled about on a bed of roses and refreshing green tea and I reckon this is that smell!

Very classy, not your generic floral or over bearing rose, this is rose done very well, so nice not to have fruit competing with flora.

This is a very special smell to me.........could it be the elusive signature scent I've never found???? I'm not sure yet, I get excited about wearing it, I'm getting tingly typing!!!

Mmmmmmmmm I'm hearing the Stone Roses 'This is the one'!!!!

sweetsera

This is one perfume I'd smell everyday and not get tired of. I love this fragrance so much that I wouldn't mind repurchasing it a million times !!

It's powdery, floral, light, refreshing and very feminine. I love how this fragrance smells powdery from the top to the base note, yet it doesn't smell flat.

And not to forget, I love how there is a tinge of green tea smell to it, adding a twist to an otherwise common smelling rose perfume.

mumsy20

This is my 'little diamond in the rough' of a scent. My very first rose perfume as I have noticed I mostly have floral fruity ones so I gave this a try as I it is quite affordable and plainly because of the notes listed. The opening notes I got were citrus, green tea, and real roses like they were just starting to bloom not overly ripe freshly cut. The dry down on my skin was creamy almost like milky and the fresh roses were still there. Most people dear to me compliments on how this perfume smells good on me even my dear husband who is nonchalant if ever I wear a perfume or not which is a very good surprise indeed! The image I have of this on my mind is someone who is a non complex type of girl who can easily blend in with the crowd but will still get noticed for her understated charms. Any English rose at heart can wear this scent and make this their own statement. ♡♥♡

I had this aged sixteen - I think it was my first fragrance. I absolutely loved it but everyone hated it on me, which was awkward! I think I'm just one of those people who can't wear rose very well. I've since moved on to the Body Shop eau de toilettes which contain rose but are more balanced and musky i.e. Smoky Rose, White Musk Libertine. I don't know which age group I would recommend this for as rose is a very classic smell, though the impression this scent gives off is one of innocence.

ClaudiaA1

I smell my favorite rose - the one with lots and lots of petals - the sweet-ish, fragrant, delicious rosa centifolia smell. The drydown, however, is weird; tea and magnolia and cedar. Quite manly but I like it nevertheless.

LisaMari

Disappointing. This is a very underwhelming dull rose.. it has an inky/citrusy note to it that reminds me of those scratch and sniff cards.
It is fresh and inoffensive but just to boring for me.

After owning and finishing a bottle of crabtree and evelyn's Evelyn Rose. I was on the hunt for a new rose fragrance. After doing some research here on fragrantica, I found my next purchase, Paul Smith Rose! The first thing I was able to smell was the TEA! then TEA and TEA and more TEA... the rose was there and I would get a whiff once in a while. To me this seems more tea than rose... nice scent though, especially for spring and summer. Longevity is not that great. I had to spray myself at least six times to be able to smell it after four hours. Projection not that exceptional either... but it's a nice scent overall. I am still looking for a real, true rose soliflor scent. If anyone knows of one msg me!

katuliena

After 4 weeks of using this fragrance, have to admit: love of my life. I will be buying it until I die. Thanks God for this fragrance :)

katuliena

Im just amazed. Soooo beautiful. My bottle of this fragrance just arrived. It smells gorgeous, fresh, like a rose. I tried Bvlgari Rose Essentiel and Im using Drop of Rose by DKNY, but this one is the best one. Love it.

siriluck

First smell is rose for me, but it's not powerful rose scent. I hope too high for this rose perfume. However, it's not too bad, just don't spray too much.

MyFairLady

I must say I love this scent. It actually reminds smell of roses, which can't be said about a lot of fragrances claiming to be rosy. I guess it could be a bit "bolder", but if it was, it would probably lose its rosy character - light, fresh, refreshing, romantic.

thatsperf

Straight-up rose scent that's rather linear. It's nice. It's like saying that a person or a thing is 'nice' but has no defining qualities of his/her own. You can get cheaper and better roses at a drugstore price (e.g Yardley or M&S).

Pasaka

Another plain rose scent. I'd say somehow a copy of Moroccan rose by Body Shop. However, I must say for its outstanding presentation. Very original! As if it was an elixir of youth and seduction from an ancient Egypt or India.

whaea

Wow, I'm not huge on rose but this one is a variation on the theme. Its like an old fashioned English rose scent, one of the disc shaped ones with a tight pompom of petals... sweet and delicious. Its actually like a hyper-real rose smell, like a real rose, but somehow more rosy! Im not sure how this has been done, but I love it.
NOT your usual rose scent - like a rose alright, but more so!
And it has great sillage.

kakamelia

I had it last yaear, but passed to my mum, cos I smelled more green tea than rose, which is not very pleasant for me after few years spent with Green tea by E.Arden.
But on my mum it smells very nice, like fresh pulled rose and she has very good reviews from men;)

Museumgal

This is a great fresh rose, very dewy and fresh picked from the garden. It's a great true rose, just like smelling one you received. The other notes are well blended and hold the rose up but it is really the star. Great spring and summer scent, it is a little light for the cooler months.

Tramontane

This reminds me of my childhood when we had a front garden filled with Hybrid Tea Roses. My Mum's favourite was called "Peace" a beautiful yellow with peach pink edges, but my favourite was "Josephine Bruce" because it had my name and was a striking deep velvet red, however the fragrance of my rose paled into insignificance when compared to "Peace".

This was probably my introduction to the world of perfume as I loved the smell so much that I gathered all the blown petals into my seaside bucket in the hope of making my own fragrance. Needless to say all I produced was a brown gloopy mess. No matter, I still love Hybrid Teas, and I love this perfume because it takes me back and reminds me of "Peace". Also, when I wear it, usually in the day time, at work, I get a lot of compliments, more so than many other vastly more expensive fragrances.

Alle Homme

This is the best modern rose scent, so wearable.

2746cstreet

I can see the comparisons between this and Body Shop's Moroccan Rose as they are both very rosy. Paul Smith's Rose is a fresh, green, ozonic rose though. Body Shop's is a spicy, creamy, powdery rose.

In addition to rose I get a lot of green tea and magnolia. Slight violet scent, but not much powder. Nice sillage and longevity. Good for any time of day and would probably work in any season, but I think more spring/summer (I live in San Diego so it's pretty much spring already here). It's a strong scent but not overbearing.

AngieGCarp

Wearing this today for testing. I have Tea Rose by Perfumers Workshop on one hand and this one on the other. Initially, these two are very different. The PSR is more floral (more floral elements) than Tea Rose. The Tea Rose is more linear the same from beginning to dry down. It is hard to capture true rose it seems most of them smell synthetic in some way even rosewater doesn't smell like a big beautiful rose. Anyway, my verdict. PSR is multidimensional, lovely and soft. It is a skin scent. Not a huge sillage. But it is there after a couple of hours now. One problem, it is headache inducing and I am not sensitive. In the end, after the drydown as it sits on your skin after a couple of hours, it is almost exactly the same as Tea Rose (doesn't give me headache).

Happy Perfuming! ♥

Nikkiza

magnolia here plays a very important role may be as much as the rose itself thats why this is a happy romantic rose (not a gloomy romantic one like lots of other roses)and i happen to like it alot.
lasting power is wonderful,a whole beautiful, calm, happy day whith this peice of art.

gi3gi

REVIEW OF Darrshan

fantastic perfect well balanced rose in edp form, i just love it, not on ur face rose, it lasts well too and is very natural smelling rose perfume, go for it

aigilia

I bought this perfume after was told by a friend that the smell is nice. She was totally right coz the rose scent of this perfume is perfect..it's like smelling a bouquet of roses..love love love..;-)

Ieva_st

Blind purchase for me and I love it! It is not intrusive at all and still it is all around. It would fit in any occasion at any time, I believe. For me, it reminds me the Forsyte saga or Miss Marple, but not like something old fashioned, but something that has been there for ages and does not loose it's appeal.
The longevity is not very strong but it gives a reason to use the perfume again after some time.

katariina9

Very rose-watery indeed and probably one of the most recognisable girly rose scents out there. Although far too characterless for me personally.

Pretty authentic beginning reminds me the hills in Bulgaria, covered with rose plantations. Not the thick damp passionate sweetness you can smell in the warehouse (which is more like Chloe Intense - heaps of fresh blossoms that give out their most powerful blast of pure femininity as they knew its their last moment alive). No. Paul Smith Rose reminds me the room where they make popular water from all this beauty that is already sucked dry from the expensive oil.

Compared to many other rose perfumes it does smell like natural rose water and thats not bad at all. The longevity is alright as well, a few hours easily. Although the beginning is young fresh and lovely, imo it dries down into something quite linear and boring. The scent that seriously lacks depth and is probably nice for summer, daytime and for someone in her early twenties. If you're on search for simple young and uncomplicated rose for the mornings off, having croissant and coffee in the bed and want to feel like sitting in rose garden, try it.

daflowerbomb

It is the original rose perfume for me! Really addictive too, I didn't think it was strong enough to last very long though.

nastyamason

Okay, pleasant, but nothing special. A lot of green tea. Rose is not too realistic but not too synthetic either. Like.

lyria

"Rose" smells so prettily on the skin after a couple of minutes. And the dry-down is beautiful, too - rosy-musky. Gentle but lasting.

mils

Romantic, little sweet, soft frag for days when you want feel good and uncomplicated. It´s like rose water which I use sometimes on my skin but I love the end where I can smell rose and musk. Nice scent with really good longevity and moderate sillage. Doesn´t cost so much, great. LUV :-)

PhaedraRose

I was given this as a gift from a friend who knew I liked rose scent. I do wear it occasionally, but for me I find it way too overpowering. The rose fragrance is not subtle and almost smells synthetic, and on my skin it lasts for hours and seems to fill the room! Not gentle enough for me.

sharon.ramsey.900

Love this fragrance, have been through several bottles :)

9-na

Rose. Just rose. I liked it because it felt alive and gentle, and... as if light summer wind touched the flower.

deash

I don't have a perfumier's nose but I can state this is a lovely delicate Rose scent that isn't overly sweet or overpowering and doesn't cause me a headache which many scents do trigger my migraines. That said it doesn't fade instantly but lasts well.

NanAxlRose

Weird........I wanted to like this Rose, after reading so many happy reviews of it. I bought it in a store just because of all th great reviews!
I sprayed it on my wrist, just one splash. First I thought, hmmmm nice & fresh but kinda boring, not as interesting as I hoped.
Then 5 minutes after, I started getting a headache. The headache got worse during the day, and even efter washing my wrist with soap, I could still smell the fragrance....
Maybe the bottle I got was too old? Anyway I really don´t like it...

Cant get enough of this fragrance. V calming and natural.

I am only into natural smelling scents and I must say Paul smith rose fits the bill, besides those from L'Occitane and Crabtree&Evelyn. Unfortunate L'Occitane and Crabtree&Evelyn do not usually have EDP here., just EDT and EDT do not last long. Finding natural smelling ESP scents from brands other than the above 2 are not that easy given the fragrances from the above 2 brands are usually not that lasting.

To me, most of the brands in the market are very artificial and too sweet and too typical.

Going back to PSR, i love it cos it is a true rose scent. with lotsa green notes. i do feel like i am teleported to a field of roses. it is v green and rosy through out. I think not many ladies would like tt since it is so authentic that some ppl may find it granny-ish. But i rather smell granny ish than typical. Most imptly, i luve the scent.

ALl in all, PSR is a v true rose scent, watery and green. Heard the smell is created using Scent trek technology. You may be curious, can google it. it is cultivated by Sir Paul Smith's wife Pauline Denyer, as a birthday prsent for Sir Paul Smith.

And what is even more heartwarming is that both have been in love since the 1960s. With the help of his then girlfriend (now wife) Pauline Denyer, Sir Paul Smith opened his first shop 10 Byard Lane, Nottingham in 1970. Cheers to true and long-lasting love.

Own a bottle of Paul Smith Rose, own a whiff of love.

I love 'rose fragrances', so I was instantly drawn to it. It's absolutely beautiful! with different rose scents as it wears. It's not overpowering but it noticeable but always lovely. It is such an uplifting perfume, I can't gush enough compliments for it! I prefer the EDP to EDT due to strength and sillage.

lindi

I LOOOOVE this one after Gucci

When i wear this people always give me compliments. It lasts long.. for about 5 hours. Its a really rosy smell, but not plain.. the cedar and musk give it just enough depth.
It's my main favorite scent and i layer it with DKNY "fresh blossom" and Versace "Bright Christal".

rosecityfriend

A lovely and fresh floral fragrance. I smell as much violet as rose, and I find the violet note very pretty although somewhat distracting in a rose perfume. If you're looking for a fragrance that is more predominantly rose, then I find Stella more rosy and also more sensual. Paul Smith Rose is bright, innocently romantic, and very long-lasting. Paul Smith Rose is a field of flowers to Stella's bed of roses. As long as one likes the combination of violet and rose, it is a very pretty fragrance.
